Pre-race routine:

I checked in the day before and drove both the run course as well as the bike course. I also looked at the transition area to get an idea as to what that was all about. On Saturday I woke at the crack of dawn at 5am. I was just too excited about my first race. My wife was out of town that weekend so my father was my support that day.
Event warmup:

trying to relax
Run
  • 29m 17s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

The time was what I expected and I felt great coming into the transition.
Transition 1
  • 02m 43s
Comments:

Transition was pretty slow but i didn't mind. The woman that was right in front of me entering ther transition was in and out in seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Speed up the transition time.
Bike
  • 45m 9s
  • 12.6 miles
  • 16.74 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt great on the bike today. The first big hill I got going 40+ mph and only thought about what it was going to be like coming back up the hill at the 18k mark. Needless to say that hill was brutal. A nice ride overall.
Transition 2
  • 02m 39s
Comments:

My legs were shaking after the bike segment.
What would you do differently?:

quicker times
Run
  • 34m 49s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

I walked 3-4 times for about 30 seconds to give the legs a rest. They were toast at this point. I loved the support that other racers gave me throughout the run portion.
What would you do differently?:

Not stop running
Post race
Warm down:

15 minutes of stretching. Lots of water and fruit.

Event comments:

I will be back but will be doing the tri next year.

THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IS THAT I PLACED 3rd IN MY AG!!! Yeah!!!
