Total Time = 1h 27m 52s
Overall Rank = 134/350
Age Group = F 35-39
Age Group Rank = 5/21
Pre-race routine:

Wake-up, check gear, have a protein bar and yogurt smoothie,go to transition, set up and chat, walk-through transitions, take puffer, go to swim start, stretch and chat some more.
Event warmup:

stretching and light jog
Swim
  • 10m
  • 547 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was a very solid swim for me - first in my age-group!!! Felt comfortable the whole time. I overcompensated a bit for my tendancy to pull right and I ended up pulling left somewhat. Overall, my sighting was much better for this race.
What would you do differently?:

nothing - this was a very good OWS for me.
Transition 1
  • 02m 17s
Comments:

We had a short run on the trail from the swim finish to the transition and my bike was on the furthest end away. I felt like I got up and running in good time considering the layout.
Bike
  • 47m 31s
  • 13.2 miles
  • 16.67 mile/hr
Comments:

I spun up the first large hill and then put my gearing on the big ring for the rest of the ride. I tried to spin up the hills as best I could and really was grinding it out on the false flat. My bike computer says that I averaged 17.6, so I guess the official time includes some down time for dismounting and gettng across the timing pad. This was a much better ride than I was expecting.
Transition 2
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

Another solid transition for me.
Run
  • 25m 59s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Whoa! This is totally warp speed for me! I'm not sure I'm buying this time, but if the computer says I did it, then I guess I did it! I eased into the first straightaway and got passed by a gal in teal. I kept her in my sights the rest of the course, and with about 3/4 of a mile to go, I kicked into a higher gear and passed her back. That was fun!
Post race
Warm down:

walking, stretching, drinking fluids

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nothing - this was about as close to perfect as I've ever done. given my current level of fitness, this was the best I had to give. continuing to lose weight and work on my bike and run will help in future races.

Event comments:

This was a first-time race director with a first-time race at this course. The venue was ideal and all of the necessary things were in place and running smoothly. There weren't a whole lot of extras, but this was a thoroughly enjoyable small race and ideal for beginners. It was not a technical course at all, so it was good to see what I could do in an all-out sprint.

It was so great seeing you out there! You looked great and wowzers for finishing first out of the swim!! You actually passed me in the water because I came out of the water at the same time as the 3rd place swimmer in your AG.

Thanks for the encouragement out on the run because the run knocked me out! I know what I need to practice more of

I got 1:39:54 though!

I'll be sure to post my race report soon, I had several rookie mistakes, like did you notice I had put my shirt on backwards at transition? Good times.

Great job Kat! You did awesome.  I looked for you afterwards but we must have been walking in different circles.  I could have used you next to me on the run because my run sucked!  Congrats on a great race and a fantastic run.
