Swim
Comments: Pool was pretty jammed up. I would have about 3 strokes per length and then run into the person in front of me. After that, I would side stroke or breast stroke. There were more people in front of her so I never passed. What would you do differently?: More practice so I have the confidence in my swim to swim by the jam. Transition 1
Comments: This is the bike to swim transition. Everything went pretty smooth except for the dismount of the bike. I unclipped my left foot while I was coming up to the transition area but couldn't my right foot unclipped. After that, things went smooth. Ran the bike in, racked it, put the helmet on the aero bars, remembered to remove my sunglasses from pocket, grabbed goggles and ran out of the transition area. What would you do differently?: Adjust my pedals? Bike
Comments: Fun course. It was either flat or slightly downhill. There were two places with a slight inline but they were barely noticeable. Most of the course was concrete road, nice and smooth. The back portion of the lollipop was asphalt with curves and some pot holes. I got passed by 3 or 4 people at the beginning but passed 8 on the second loop and return portion of the race. I started feeling cramping twinges in my calves at the beginning of the second loop. Increased frequency of water and Accelerade. Stayed in the aero bars about 80% of the time - came out during turns and drinking. What would you do differently?: Need to get a water bottle that goes in the aero bars. Transition 2
Comments: This was the run to bike transition. This went pretty smooth. I found my bike no problem since I had practiced coming in and finding it during my warm-up. What would you do differently?: Get tri style bike shoes to leave in the pedals. Run
Comments: I was actually giggling periodically during the run. I was running in a Triathlon! What would you do differently?: More practice at speed. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, ate, stretched. What limited your ability to perform faster: I need a better swim (and to more confident in my swim) and a faster run. Event comments: I made a point of thanking everyone I saw. I think I was the only one out there with the 2007 Team Javelin suit on so I was very recognizable. Several of the volunteers came up to me afterwards to talk. Last updated: 2007-06-24 12:00 AM

Coffee, two pieces of raisin toast with peanut butter, banana. Checked my list one more time to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything. Left the house at 6:30 and got to the race site at 6:40. Set up the transition area, got marked and got my chip.
Easy run between the parking lots. Stretching. Shooting the breeze with others. Had to go to the restroom about 3 times. 1 Clif shot right at pre-race meeting (15 min before run start)
