Comments:

This was a really shallow swim, you could touch bottom the enitre way I belive.....not that I tried :). The shallow waters helped put my mind at ease. Although, the breathing was an issue today, I just couldn't catch my breath. I better get this under control before the DC olympic in 1 month!!!

Comments:

Pretty nice course after the big cliff.....boy did I struggle up that thing! Really happy to average near 17mph again :). I never thought I'd say this, but I liked the rolllers on the course....they kept it made me push myself harder. Actually enjoyed the bike which doesn't happen often. But once I had to push against the little wind there was I was struggling.....I know I'm really pathetic!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing

Comments:

Well, my worst run time in a tri so I'm bummed. My race would have been nearly perfect if I could have kicked it up more on the run. But I haven't trained on hills at all and I've never raced a tri with hills on the run, so I should have expected this. This was a different course running on the trails, I felt like I was in cross country again! I guess it's time to hit the hills!!!!!
What would you do differently?:

Train on hills.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched a bit, got some food and water and headed out. Got home VERY sore....I've never been soo sore after a tri, I think I'm just not used to racing on hills.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of hill training.

Event comments:

Would have liked if it started on time, but that happens. Otherwise, I enjoyed this race.

Nice race Runner! You probably passed me at some point. Yeah, I hear ya on the soreness. I've only done one other sprint before and I'm beat after this one.

I haven't posted my race yet cuz I don't know my times. Didn't see where they were posted at the race so am waiting for the report to show up online.

I know exactly how you feel - never having done cross country this run totally messed me up...and the hill was "pleasant" also - i really need to review my runs to include way more hills and off-road stuff....

good luck in DC

Thanks for the kind comments! I went to itiming.com and they had the results posted way before midwest sports. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that was a heck of a hill.....makes me feel less whimpy!! Yep, I hear ya Phil, I too need to mix up my run training more....to the hills I go for repeats!!

Well I think you did great.  It was a tough run... different then running on pavement, huh?

If something thinks that hill was easy, I'd love to knock some sense into them.  I did enjoy the change of pace of the trail running.  Makes time go much faster than pavement pounding with no IPOD.  Ok, why is it no one else hit the wind?  I thought it was tough, not the worst I've had, but tough...maybe because I don't have aero bars?  Anyone?  Anyway, you did great!  Take from an old timer...warm up...it'll catch up to you!
