Pre-race routine:

Just taking it easy
Event warmup:

light stretching, did a very minor swim - mostly just wanted to pee in the water....
Swim
  • 45m
  • 1500 meters
  • 03m / 100 meters
Comments:

This is a guestimated time. My swim + run up a monster ramp + T1 was 51 minutes.
What would you do differently?:

Swim more in my training. I have been a slacker....and it showed. I need to get back to 3000-5000 yd workouts 3 times a week.
Transition 1
  • 05m
Comments:

Pretty good T1 (considering that ridiculous boat ramp we ran up). I have some bruises on the ball of my left foot from the rocks.

Knew it would be a long day, so I did not kill myself blazing through here.
What would you do differently?:

Get my quick ties back on my shoes. Start training more with no socks, so I can skip them without destroying my feet.
Bike
  • 1h 20m
  • 24.2 miles
  • 18.15 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike course was a real workout. I tried to not overdo it and have dead legs on the run, but I had dead legs on the run (at least the hilly part of the run). I hate that I work hard and pass a bunch of people on the bike, only to have them all pass me by on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I thought I had a pretty good bike segment.
Transition 2
  • 03m
Comments:

No problems here...
Run
  • 1h 05m
  • 5 miles
  • 13m  min/mile
Comments:

I sucked on the run. I basically walked all the hills (ok a lot of people did, but I still sucked). I ran the downhill and flat portion. I was feeling pretty whipped.
What would you do differently?:

Train more. I won't whine, but my run training has been severely limited lately....wah..wah...
Post race
Warm down:

Drank water and walked it all off.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fat body, bad training. The course would have been OK for me if I was better prepared...

This race organizer has a long way to go to work out the kinks in the event. I'm not sure if I would go to another one of their events.

Course: 2 laps. Up and down 2 different hills. Pretty much kicked my butt. I wantred to run the hills but just didn't have it in me. I have now had to pee during the run segment in both Olympic triathlons that I have done. I would rather deal with that then get dehydrated.

I thought I was only one to pee in that Lake. Good job, we all did it. Too bad there is no such thing as drafting on the run portion.
