Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:15am, showered got dressed and drank Ensure and 1 Hammer Gel. Left house at 4:45 and drove to Marta station near airport. Got off at Buckhead station and hit the bathroom on the way out (better than waiting in line for a port-a-pottie).
Event warmup:

Went to parking lot and ran a few laps. At 7am, grabbed some water and 1 more Hammer Gel and e-cap. Headed to TG-1B area and stretched. Cool fly over by a couple of A-10 Warthogs, love those planes.

Comments:

After 12 years in ATL, I finally got around to doing my first PTRR. Kept hearing stories of Cardiac hill, but after doing the 10K Classic last Labor Day, I wasn't impressed. I did like this race though. I used my CRR 10k time to get in TG-1B. Even though this was a training run, I wanted an official time. My gun time was 48:22 and only 1min 36sec to cross the start line for a chip time of 46:46. I am very happy with this time as I shaved 6+ minutes from my CRR time (mostly downhill) and set a 10K Race PR with 7:33/miles.
What would you do differently?:

Continue to work on my run because it is not where I want to be.
Post race
Warm down:

Got my t-shirt and went to the company tent, grabbed some food, stretched and got a massage.

Event comments:

I should have told LHablas where the free post race beer was.

Despite not telling me (and others) about the free post-race beer (me and David did manage to get one from the UPS tent before having to bolt), I salute your effort.   Nice run and way to go on the PR!!

Congrats on the PR. I know what you mean regarding the US10k hills, although Peachtree relative to other courses, is no walk in the park. 46:46 is a cool number to finish with.

Thanks Lou and Ron.

I guess I should clarify, the PTRR was a challenging course, I just thought Cardiac hill would be more daunting than it was.

Wow -- well done -- setting a PR at the Peachtree is a tough one. Between the crowds, the (for most of us) daunting hills, and the heat and humidity (which was admittedly not there this year), it's not a race I try to hit hard. Obviously, however, you were incredibly ready for it. Way to go.
