Pre-race routine:

Woke up early, had my normal early race-morning breakfast of a couple of pieces of toast and a Mountain Dew. Got a shower and dressed, then headed out the door to drive to the race. Picked up Lisa (twolives) on the way.
Event warmup:

None. Sat around and chatted with Lisa and a few other friends. Met Jay (jccbulldog) right before the start.

Comments:

Didn't have any expectations for this race. Went into it more with this was a training run, not a race. Definitely haven't done enough in the last couple of months post-IMAZ to be prepared to race. Started slow and slowly picked up the pace through each mile....mainly because I needed to hit the porta-potty.
What would you do differently?:

Warm down:

Finished, headed straight for the porta-potty, then came back for some Gatorade and some water. Met Jay and Lisa and chatted with others while trying to cool down.

This is just a runner's club series race so there weren't any timing chips, t-shirts, etc. But very well organized event. Not bad to get a year's renewal to the club and 10 races for $65. Can't expect much more. This will be great to use for my Marine Corps & St. Jude Marathon training.

The time is the official race results. The time is higher as there was no timing chips and the clock was started at the gun and we were in the back of the pack at the start. My Garmin data: 3.18 miles @ 29:17 1st: 9:29 2nd: 9:21 3rd: 8:50
Course: Loop course around Overton Park in Memphis.
