As my son used to say when he was younger. **Fists on Hips, elbows flared out** - "I'm Anger!"

----

Long story short, they continue to screw up this stupid credit account we have with them. If it wasn't for the fact that it is interest free until 2010 and the pay-off money is invested and earning me money, I'd just pay the thing off 2 and a half years early and wash my hands of them.

Not only did they screw up last month's statement, then it seems after I called and spent 30 minutes on the phone with "Chuck," this month's statement was even MORE screwed up! This whole morning was wasted - wasted I tell you - talking with Bryce, then supervisor Jenny to sort this all out.

Supervisor Jenny started with the company line - "Sir, I can take this late fee off your account as a one-time courtesy." That lasted for 15 minutes while I explained to her I wasn't asking for a favor and she shouldn't take it off as a courtesy, but as a matter of right b/c they messed up.

After (I'm not kidding here) 25 minutes of the most convuleted discussions, the WF supervisor then says "Holy Crap, our system sure did screw up your account." While she was cleaning up the account, we started small talking and she confided in me that at first she was positive I was just another completely wrong customer trying to talk my way out of having missed a payment.

And if that wasn't enough, I then spent another 30 minutes writing a letter to the billing dispute department to memorialize this mess up, so that if it ever shows up on my credit report, I'm covered.

Besides, I don't have much confidence that next month's statement will be all fixed...

-----------

You can bet your bottom dollar I'll be grinding out some frustration from these trolls on tonight's run!!!

OK, Rant over - channelling negative energy to my running shoes...

My favorite Wells Fargo story is that we had a consumer loan with them about 5 years ago when we lived in Chicago. It was for $1500 for an A/C we had installed, but we had just bought a house and we were a little strapped for cash, so we decided to finance this thing. Bad frickin' idea.

We made the first couple of payments by driving to the local WF branch and dropping off a check at the store front (which we were told we could do). All of sudden, the phone starts ringing at all odd hours, them calling to collect overdue payments. We tell them we've paid, blah blah blah.

We go down to the place we dropped off the checks to speak with the manager. She pulls our file and FIND THE UNCASHED CHECKS SITTING IN THE FILE.

And the real kick in the pants was that several months later when I pulled my credit report and found a massive ding on my credit score thanks to WF and this exact incident, the manager pretended to not know what I was talking about and I eventually lost the battle to have WF remove this from my credit report.

-------

I had a good friend from high school contact me out of the blue about a year ago. Turns out after law school, she became an in-house attorney for Wells Fargo. Ironically, I used to think highly of her until I learned that fact...

Heh.  You think that's bad?  Sprint sent me an erroneous monthly bill for over $35,000.00.  The customer service moron I was dealing with, after admitting their error, suggested to me that the easiest way to clean up the mess was for me to pay it and then just be issued a credit.  *blink*

I'm now with Verizon.

And this is the reason I avoid all types of CC and find it playing with fire to 'invest' from a CC.

Exactly.. Play with snakes... Get bitten...

That said, I used to have a checking account with Wells Fargo and found them very difficult to deal with... Deposits would often be misapplied... I am now happier having found a great credit union...

Not that anyone was losing sleep awaiting a follow-up...

but the other day I received a letter from WF in response to my letter. Never had this happen before, they had to check the "other" box on the form letter and someone typed in a message that basically said "Our mistake, thanks for bringing it to our attention and your account has been corrected."

Ironic how the "our mistake" had to fit in the "other" category on the form letter.

------

I'm so easily reminded why I loathe these "credit" offers - but at this point I'm already in the soup so I might as well leave the $$ in the bank until the full payment comes due in 3 years.

Then again, they mess up my bill again - I'm paying that balance off in full. I haven't quite figured out that punishes them, but I'll find a way! :D

Obviously “our mistake” is SO RARE it only makes sense to categorize it as ‘Other’.
