Pre-race routine:

woke up and had my customary bacon egg and cheese on crossaunt with an ice coffie for breakfast. Helpes set up the transtion area for the race with the local club members volunteering. Also made sure the extra two bikes I brought up for the visiting batchaler party got to the gents from over seas so they could race.
Event warmup:

not much
Swim
  • 31m 54s
  • 1500 yards
  • 02m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

since I was bouncing back from an injury, I just wanted to go slow. Still was faster than most of the local club guys, including the swim instructor :)
What would you do differently?:

not get hurt so this race would have counted. Since it was my knee that was injured, I swam near my max for a race anyway
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

walked to transition, but was quite efficent. Had a big problem getting up to speed. Did not zip up my bike top under the wet suit, and could not get it zipped up easily. Was quite a head wind, so it needed to get done.
What would you do differently?:

Zip the shirt
Bike

Comments:

for an urban course, not bad on the roads. pushed harder than I wanted to on the first loop. Had to pretty much sit up on the second to keep my speeds down and nurse the knee. Had more problems with the mussles not wanting to work. This was the longest ride in 6 weeks by far. Longest last week was 45 minutes.Must say I am impressed with the speed, just should have not gone so hard.

On the second lap, too keep my effort down, I started to whisle, like at moosmam. Seems to keep me in a non competive frame of mind. Definatly helped me stay where I needed to be today.
What would you do differently?:

not get hurt and train
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

both T zones had no splits, but were efficent. took some electolights to help with the cramping on the bike. Should have not been a big deal if I had been able to train.
What would you do differently?:

not get hurt.
Run
  • 1h 36m 25s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 15m 33s  min/mile
Comments:

Water was lacking at some of the stations. I started to run out of T2, wanted to go the whole way. Made about 3/4 of a mile before the long walk began. Legs were to out of shape to go without chancing an injury. The knee was ok, just too out of shape.

Walked from .75 to 4.5, whisling as I went. When I realized there were only two others still on the course behind me , I decided to let them go. When only one was left behind with 1.5 miles to go I decided to start to "run" again. Closed the 1/4 mile gap on the girl in frount of me and raced her to the finish. Was able to finish quite strong.
What would you do differently?:

train.
Post race
Warm down:

got the bikes back from the batchler party, watched the awards. Trifury took a large chunk of the hardware

What limited your ability to perform faster:

injury and lack of training

Event comments:

this is a small local tri that my local club is way behind. I will keep doing it.

Hey, nice race with the injuries.  Great swim split.  Congrats on beating most of the Trifurians on the swim.  Guess I know who in might still be faster than you.

Didn't know you have that many bikes to spare.

While you're on the bike course, sappho96, kaqphin, Max, D.Z., foolproof and I were cheering for you, in the BT chat room.

How's your knee after the run?
