Pre-race routine:

The family came with me. It's always good to have a cheering section. I had an egg&cheese sandwich before leaving the house and a 7-11 coffee on the way to the venue.
Event warmup:

Listened to the iPod, visualized the swim and transitions. Swam about 75m.
  • 15m 52s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 07s / 100 meters

Didn't go off course, drafted as much as possible.

What would you do differently?:

Swim faster.
Transition 1
  • 01m 6s

transition was a bit slower than I would like, had to dodge traffic in and out of the transition area.
What would you do differently?:

Go Faster
  • 42m 43s
  • 15 miles
  • 21.07 mile/hr

The sensor pickup was knocked out of alignment so the computer was erratic. Couldn't judge speed/effort, would've like to have gone faster.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure the 'puter is working properly, preride to shake out any bugs.
Transition 2
  • 01m 12s

Forgot the race belt and had to turn around after about 10yds after racking the bike.
What would you do differently?:

remember the damn race belt. dumb mistake
  • 22m 5s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 06s  min/mile

Training with the son in the BOB jogger helps with the hills, felt strong and took 1:12 off of my run time from last year.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank water and talked with Dan, then gathered my gear, chatted with Scott. Checked the finish time and went home.

Event comments:

Setup does a great job.

Great job!  I guess maybe I need to find myself a kid to push around so I can train for those hills.  Nicely done on the bike too!
