Comments:

Decent swim - stayed closer to the front than usual, so there was some good contact throughout the swim, but it was also good to work on drafting technique.
Transition 1
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Time is an estimate - they included transition times in the bike split.

Comments:

Good effort on this ride - I tried to hammer at the start since I knew that Jeff (jackemy) would be likely catching up with me (I had seen him just coming into T1 as I was heading out on the bike). He caught me around mile 6 but I worked to keep him in sight as long as I could. Around mile 14 we were fighting a decent headwind and the road had a lot of bends so you couldn't see far ahead, and I started to get a little discouraged when I couldn't see him or the next group of riders, but I still kept up a solid effort.
Transition 2
  • 00m 46s
Run
  • 24m 42s
  • 3.5 miles
  • 07m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

I saw Jeff leaving T2 as I rolled in, and thought I might have a chance to track him down, but it ended up being not that great of a run - it was a trail run, with some very steep and rough sections. It was hard to get any kind of rhythm. I ended up just kind of cruising along and not pushing the pace, since I didn't want to catch a rock or root and get hurt this close to Timberman.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think my running legs were still a little fried from the 19.5 mile trail race from the previous weekend.

Event comments:

Good race - I was psyched to place in my AG again, especially considering that the 1st place in our AG was one of the top 3 overall but they did not separate them out. Jeff held me off by 40 seconds - I was glad to hear him say that he had really hammered the bike since he makes it look so easy.

This race is pretty well done. The setup is a little weird, with T1 and T2 in different places, but overall the logistics and organization are good, and I would do this one again in the future.
