Event warmup:

swam for about 10 minutes to get aclimated to the water
Swim
  • 09m 14s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

started at back of 2nd wave again. was 1:30 slower than last month but didn't feel like it. I did go wide after the 1st buoy so maybe that's where the extra time came from.
What would you do differently?:

start in front of 2nd wave or back of 1st wave instead
Transition 1
  • 02m 12s
Comments:

Everything went smooth
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 32m 42s
  • 11 miles
  • 20.18 mile/hr
Comments:

hammered the bike as usual. Passed more than passed me. Should have used my aerobottle since I don't seem to drink enough from my bottle in races. Cramped a little at the end of the ride.
What would you do differently?:

use my aerobottle
Transition 2
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

Ran down the wrong row coming in. Doh!!! Other than that everything went fine.
What would you do differently?:

Not get lost in transition
Run
  • 31m 1s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

This run just sucked for me. Couldn't push the pace at all Hr didn't want to stay above z2 for any length of time. Ran past another BT'er, Ginac007, who saw me but was so out of it couldn't muster a response in time. Did manage to run the entire time except for walking the aid stations.
What would you do differently?:

not get sick 1 1/2 weeks before the race
Post race
Warm down:

grabbed a water and muffin and waited around for the raffle. Didn't win anything :(

What limited your ability to perform faster:

getting sick a week and a half before the race
my weight

Event comments:

Good low key event for 1st timers

Hey Joe!  Nice meeting you at the race.  Your bike times are great, wish I was that fast. For what it's worth, you didn't look too out of it running- looked strong!  See you around.
