Total Time = 1h 13m 49s
Overall Rank = 78/434
Age Group = 31
Age Group Rank = 9/36
Event warmup:

Few Stretches watching 93 swimmers hit the pool.
Swim
  • 05m 16s
  • 300 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

Great swim besides I kept catching the guys in front and couldn't pass. I had to breast stroke the end. I think they put the wrong swim time in for me or the guys in front of me. My goal was not to panic and start swimmming like a madman. I stayed calm the whole time.
What would you do differently?:

Either not do a pool Tri or need to put a faster time in the pool signup. Other than that nothing.
Transition 1
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

Took too long in this transition. Need to re-think.
What would you do differently?:

Probably wouldn't use gloves or a shirt. It was very hard putting shirt on when wet. ALso the gloves weren't going on very easy.
Bike
  • 42m 44s
  • 14 miles
  • 19.66 mile/hr
Comments:

I knew from practice rides not to go out and kill myself from the start and that worked like a champ. A few passed me right at the beginning, but I had lots left at the end. This was my biggest improvement. The people hanging with me on the course slowly faided away over time. I felt like my recovery was faster.
What would you do differently?:

Not much I can do differently. I trained as much as possible on the bike to be ready for this.
Transition 2
  • 01m 9s
Comments:

I did much better at this Transition. I think I can save time with not having to tie shoelaces. I will look into that for next time.
Run
  • 22m 59s
  • 2.9 miles
  • 07m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

Tough run at beginning the first mile of hell.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work more on brick: bike/run to build my legs up. I can't reach my normal running speed after biking yet.
Post race
Warm down:

Lots of fluids

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Leg strength/endurance

Course: This was half cross country run and half concrete trail run. The CC part had hills that crushed my legs at the beginning. They were burning so bad that the first mile was hell for me. It slowly went away and I was able to pick up the pace. I really have to work on the bike/run to build my legs up better.

good job on the bike...solid swim.  Lot's of swimmers out in front holding up others...hope you have a better swim another time...good run even w/ struggling at the beginning.

I looked at your blog and this was your first? Your results were great. Congrats on becoming a TRIATHLETE! Putting a shirt on, in T1, can be very difficult. I found that out in the first two I ever did. Now I race in the mantard. I would recommend that or get a tri top that you can wear on the swim. For T2, I am a big fan of Lock Laces. Definately a time saver. Hopefully we will meet up at a future race.
