Another newbie from France!

Hiya!

I'm a US expat living in Pau, France. It is in the south west, not too far from the coast. I play indoor volleyball, and my main sports is beach volleyball. Having been a gymnsit for a little over 10 years, I kind of missed practicing a solo sport, and triathlon is something that has been stirring in the back of my mind for a few years now.
Unfortunately during a vb game in april, i broke my foot, which was then curshed again in july during a beach match. So i've definitely missed out on the main season meets and time to prep.
However, I'm really psyched about about a race in september.
I called to sign up for the sprint distance...but the organizer really recommended i try the shorter distance first. Although i'm a decent swimmer, i'm real scared about the run for my foot. Running in the sand and on the pavement are two different things...Also, i'd have had to get a years licence just to sign up for the sprint and 100$ seemed a bit expensive for my first race!
Anyhow, yikes!!! I've finally posted myself on here...so i'm really gonna do it!!!! CAN'T WAIT!
