Subject: Training for 2nd OLY
I just completed my first Oly on August 12th. My time was 2 hours and 38 minutes. I'm competing in my second Oly distance Tri on November 9th. My goals for the Tri are really just around improving my time in each event - so I thought the best way to do this is get on the 8 week Oly to 1/2 Iron Bridge traning plan. Is this the right strategy?

Probably not. The difference between training for a Half Iron and a Olympic is huge. While the training volumes may be similar, the types of workouts in each plan are quite different. The run volume in the Oly to HIM bridge is considerably more than what you're currently used to and you don't have *that* much of a base according to what's in your training logs.  You could really be risking an injury.

At this point you still have a lot of gains to be made simply by sticking to a consistent plan that was created for an Olympic distance race. You'd be best served by using the Beginner Olympic - 8 Week - HR Zone Based, or perhaps the Olympic, Basic 12 Week - RPE Based plans

Thank you for the quick reply - if I go back to HR 8 week OLY plan, would I be starting from day 1 i.e. low volumn swims, runs and bike. It seems that I would be cutting my workouts down from where I'm at in terms of physical ability from my last Tri. Please advise.

Look at week 5 (2nd month) of the Olympic, Basic 12 Week (RPE or HR) plan, it looks like that volume is a little more than the beginning of the 8 week Oly plan, that may be more in line with your current fitness.
