I did this this morning with my masters team:

Warm up:
500 yd swim easy
300 yd kick

Ladder swim:

2 x 25 yds 1st one slow 2nd one fast
2 x 50 yds 1st one slow 2nd one fast
2 x 75 yds 1st one slow 2nd one fast
2 x 100 yds 1st one slow 2nd one fast
2 x 100 yds 1st one slow 2nd one fast
2 x 75 yds 1st one slow 2nd one fast
2 x 50 yds 1st one slow 2nd one fast
2 x 25 yds 1st one slow 2nd one fast

Your rest is your slow swims. Essentially you are swimming a 800 yd swim!

6 x 50 yds on 50 sec intervals from the middle of the pool (the idea here is to start off with out pushing off a wall and treading water while waiting to start again) We did stroke drills with these.

200 yd cool down.

Took about 45 mins and then we played water polo!!!

I got tired reading that.

Nice idea about the ladder swim – I can do that too. 5 yds fast 5 slow. 10 fast 10 slow 5 fast 5 slow!!

Finished.!!!

good target to aim for!

Yea I figured that ladder is a great endurance increaser!!! I wish I would have started a stop watch so I can do it again in a few weeks to see if my time has dropped. Oh well next time I guess!!!

Well folks once again I have proven I cant do math in my head. The ladder is actually 1000 yds not 800!!!

Great suggestion for a workout. I tried it today and liked it. By breaking down the yds in the ladder it didn't seem like I was actually swimming a 1000yds non-stop.

Then of course, we add that 800 you did at the beginning to warm up!!!! for 1800 yards. Hmmmmm -- something I might aim for, but am not sure I have the energy or the stay-with-it-ism for that amount at this time.

I shall try it next pool session and see how much I get done. Thanks for the workout.

That sounds like an interesting workout. I'll have to tri it when I get back into the swing of things (soon, I hope).
