I really need to work on my diet. I can put food away. I know Im bad about it. Im way better than I was 5-10 years ago but still have to work at it. I think fried chicken is taboo for me. Not to say Ill never eat it again, but one time I went to a KFC buffet and looked at the nutrition facts afterwards. I about hurled on the wall. I never looked at it the same since.

And then theres AYCE wing nights...you dont even want to know.

I eat pretty much anything I want. I stay away from HFCS and trans fats but that is abot it. Probably why I am still a big guy. I figure what the h, if I like it and I'm not being lazy all the time might as well eat what I enjoy.

I'm not sure anything is taboo...but I don't eat fried food ever....fast food I don't eat....I try to avoid all processed food and eat lean protein, fruit and veggies. I avoid regular salad dressing as it is full of yucky fat. I find it amusing to see women order salads in effort to eat well only to put on 500 calories of mostly fat in the form of dressing on it.

I don't eat potato chips, snacks chips like that

I don't drink alcohol.

Funny about the Arnold quote...now 4 years after I started losing weight I eat mostly now what I never ate and the stuff I ate back then I rarely eat other than meat.  It grows on you as you adjust to more natural foods.

Fast food. I used to love the stuff, went about a year, had one fast food meal and was sick to my stomach all night. I think I finally kicked that habit for good*

*Aside from the occasional Grilled Chick-Fil-a on whole wheat bun with side of fruit.

Well, taboo is quite strong. I would say that I say 'no no' to convenience, fast and processed food - preferring to cook from scratch to have greater control over my diet and to avoid chemicals, preservatives etc. So no food would be taboo - I class eating certain foods at the wrong time (e.g. not PWO) as a treat - all scheduled into my eating plan as 4 'treats' a week with 5 meals a day. It seems to work, and stops me binging through taboo food depravation.

The majority of what enters into my body is unprocessed, low in fat(unless its "healthy" fat), and high in protein. I've cut meat out drastically, but still eat it a few times a week. Fruits, fresh veg's, grains, egg's, seafood, etc. I used to live off fast food and everything else that basically kills you slowly, so I very very rarely eat any fast food anymore(basically only if i have no other option). I've cut most dairy prodcuts out, but i do love cheese and milk. I also enjoy honey nut cheerios. Try to not eat or drink anything with HFCS.

I've been eating ALOT of Quinoa lately. This stuff is awesome! So versatile! Check out the link if you dont know about it

Yes of course: everything containing trans fat.
Trans fat are killers for your heart. Avoid them at all. Just check if present and discard it!
Margarine for example is 100% trans fat: it is a poison.

While I wouldn't exactly call it "taboo," I don't eat fried foods. Originally, I stopped just for health reasons, but now they don't appeal to me anyway.

The exception is that I will occasionally eat the fries at one particular local restaurant (they are hand cut and sliced like chips....mmmm).

Fried foods are an example of trans fat rich food because of the temperature that vegetal fried oil reaches. It changes to hydrogenated structure which means TRANS.
Use at home only olive oil for fried things, controlling temperature and the time and you will keep yourself on the safe side.
In general I prefer to avoid it too.

There is a small burger restaurant near me that makes their fries with olive oil - they are SOOOOOOO good. Their burgers are good too, not huge and they use organic beef.

Nothing is taboo, but I grew up eating a pretty healthy diet (mom loved nutrition) and that's carried over to adulthood. Plus, things like soft drinks and fast food were treats (I try to keep it that way now). What I had to learn, though, is proper portion sizes. Too much of a good thing is still too much. And, after getting into the tri/running life, I definitely crave more veggies.

If I see the words "hydrogenated," "high fructose corn syrup," or "bleached/enriched" in the grocery store, I don't buy whatever it is. Same goes for more than 1 or 2 unidentifiable chemicals. That said, if I'm out with friends I just order sensibly and don't worry so much about whether the honey mustard has HFCS or what the GI of sushi rice is.

I've curtailed the alcohol pretty sharply but not entirely, in the interest of having a social life. When I do drink, I'll have 1 or 2 quality beers instead of a zillion Bud Lights.
