I wonder if, after the psych eval, I'll be able to fit a timing chip strap over the government issued ankle bracelet.

Just put it on the other ankle, Einstein.

See you there!
Moody Gardens Hotel is FULL. I know you PM'ed me about it, and I was surprised it was full. We had over 300 rooms blocked for the race!

I'd recommend the Inn at the Waterpark as a second choice, if you wanna be close. It's actually owned by Moody Gardens, and is on their property. It's walking distance to festival, transition, etc...

They're building an additonal wing on the Inn right now, with 80 more rooms....

I stayed at the Inn at the Waterpark last year and it was a fine place to stay. They had nice powdered doughnuts at the continental breakfast. Mmmmmmmm

the manager at the Inn is a runner, and is VERY helpful and accommodating...
Beware, those rooms will fill quickly too.

I like it alot there. As mentioned, our whole crew stays there. Nice for the family, as they don't have to get up at 4:30 am, to escort you to the race. They can get up at a reasonable hr, and walk over....

FYI, I just booked online at the Inn at the Waterpark, and it is only $80 per night.

Last year I stayed about 25 miles away to save some bucks (I had points to pay for a room in Texas City), but the family will be much happier waking up a bit later (no need to go with me for bike set-up or warm up) and just walking to the race.  Thanks for the tip!

They'll LOVE you for it...$80 a night is great!

The nice thing is, the Inn isn't gouging people. They know they'll be full, but aren't raising their offseason rates. Good folks!

Once that's full, there are plenty of places within a couple of miles, they're on the website. Depends what you're looking for. Some REALLY nice places, like the San Luis, and you also have Hawthorne Suites and La Quinta, among others...listed on site....

So who organized the BT beach house last year? Is it happening again? Carey isn't planning on coming with me for the week-end so I'd love to hang there rather than in a room by myself.

I just signed up also, and was wondering if there would be a Bt house like I heard about last year.. I'm in for that if it happens since I haven't made hotel reservations yet. Also do you only need that park pass for the day of the race or for the whole weekend??

no need for the pass....unless you want to go to the attractions...There's no fee for the grounds, race site, etc...

crapola,,,, I was thinking it was a park pass to gain entrance for the event and selected the one day pass.  Oh well I should have asked first.. since I have it I most likely check things out or whoever I'm bringing to the event will have something to do while I'm out and this supper hilly course

Lone Star or Longhorn??? Lone Star is March 28-30, Longhorn is Oct 5.....

Where did you see it as the 12th???? Longhorn was changed to the 12th for 2 days, then back to the 5th, which is it's original date....

I just checked the registration page, and they still have it listed as the 12th in one spot. They missed it. I just emailed them to fix it.

It's the 5th....We were toying with moving it to the 12th, because of an opportunity to have the expo/festival at a great place. BUT, we've now got that lined up for the 4-5th (which wasn't available before), so we're good. Will be announcing that stuff shortly as well!!!!
