View Member's Race Log
Pleasant Prairie, WI
United States
72F / 22C
Sunny
Total Time = 2h 25m 30s
Overall Rank = 55/489
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 8/54
Pre-race routine:

Get transition ready (of course). Put on wetsuit. Eat a cliff bar and drink my pre-race drink...ENSURE !!
Event warmup:

Go to the bathroom.
Swim
  • 27m 4s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 48s / 100 meters
Comments:

A couple buoys lost in the glare.
What would you do differently?:

Draft more but still sight buoys.
Transition 1
  • 03m 10s
Comments:

I will DEFINATELY not be putting on arm warmers on wet arms again. That cost me at least 1.5 minutes in transition.
What would you do differently?:

Just be slighly cold on the bike and nix the arm warmers.
Bike
  • 1h 11m 8s
  • 24.8 miles
  • 20.92 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike went well. Very pleased with the amount of people I passed...motivating.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

Overall this transition went quite well.
What would you do differently?:

I would not worry so much about getting my feet clean...it's only a 6.2 mile run.
Run
  • 43m 8s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 06m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

Run was good and I was bumping up against my lactate threshhold perfectly.
What would you do differently?:

I would definately have run faster and not worried about my lactate threshhold during such a short race. This race was at the end of the season where I was in good enough shape to just run at an all out effort.
Post race
Warm down:

walk and eat fruit. drank my recovery drink and changed clothes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Watching my HR too much and not just going ALL OUT.

Event comments:

This race is one of the BEST Olympic distance races in the Chicagoland area!

Thx.

Funny thing was, this wasn't supposed to be my "peak" race. The race 2 weeks later was (which I haven't posted yet) but I got freggin' burned out of training about 1 week after this race.

oh well....

NIce job on your 2 triathlons. I read your website...

Congratulations on such a great race!
Your wife's story and your strength impressed me. Any result deserves an eulogy.
Keep struggling and the end will surely be a happy one ;-)
