Total Time = 2h 41m 24s
Overall Rank = 812/874
Age Group = F25-29
Age Group Rank = 67/73
Pre-race routine:

Usual 25 oz gatorade and large cinnamon raisin bagel. Ate chocolate Z-bar, too.

Event warmup:

Stretched, relaxed and took in atmosphere. Was around 56 degrees at start. Clear.
As usual, had to find porta-potties at least 4 times before race! (Didn't have to go once during the race, though!)
Run
  • 2h 41m 24s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 12m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

52% humidity, 10mph wind ENE (always felt like a head wind...)

Had a great run for me. Pushed harder. Had to walk a little of it (maybe 2 mi overall). Kept run pace around 11 min/mi with brief bursts around 9-10 min/mi. Average pace per Garmin 305 was 12:15 per mile.
Sprinted last 0.1 mi. Gave it my all this time throughout and had little to nothing left in reserve.
Was very relaxed during whole race. Run pace was better than usual throughout. No problems with breathing either. Near PERFECT a run for me.
Go figure....when running half mary's, I run better than in training. Weird.
Mentally, this race was harder than the Rock-n-Roll: less music and fun to keep you distracted.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more often and push harder. Had problems with L-knee of all things. Think it was compensation issues. R-knee ran with knee strap and had NO trouble. Wonderful! Think i'll start running these distances with double knee straps.
Might try pre-race jog for warm up and more stretching. My hips are killing me.
Post race
Warm down:

Powerade, water. Stretching. Walk a lot to cool down. Tried to eat with not much luck.
Massage scheduled for tomorrow.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

L-knee hurt this time. Should have done more long runs and worked on increasing pace. (Didn't want to detract from my tri season given my R-knee's painful tendencies.)

Event comments:

Fun environment. DJ's on course were fun. Bands at finish weren't. Good stocked water and nutrition stations. Great time of year for this race. Somewhat boring scenery. Subway subs, fruit, cookies, good recovery bag, free beer and tons of water/powerade at finish.

Good to see you exceeded your expectations. It is funny how you have the tendency to run better in the real thing. Great race!

Great run, race day is the time to run better than your training. GOOD JOB. It was a great day out there, awesome weather and plenty of water and my favorite plenty of food at the end.
