This is such a well run, great early-season race to knock the rust off!  I'm looking forward to heading back to O-town for the third year in a row...not that I need an excuse to hit up Mac n Joe's and the German Bar, but a triathlon is pretty much the best reason I can think of!

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend!

Does anyone know what the running surface is? Is there grass/trail to run on?

Thanks

If it is the same run course as last year (and I'm pretty sure it is) you fun mostly on the sidewalk through the "quad." There are a couple of steps you have to run over. It's like stepping up/down a curb.

I pretty much lived at Mac and Joes from 1990-1992.

Since there are a few 1st timers doing the race I thought I'd share one of the tools that helped me ease the "I know I forgot something" feeling you get when packing things up.

Hope it helps.

Ha!  Yeah, I found myself pretty much a permanent resident there while I was at MU.  I'm surprised they didn't start forwarding my mail there!

The running course is on the sidewalks through S. Quad for whoever asked, pretty simple out and back.  There are a few steps you have to climb over, no biggie.

I'm curious to see the new bike course...the one for the previous 2 years was deceptively hilly, I don't doubt the new one will have its share of ups and downs too.

440 participants?  Wow.  I can't believe how much this grows every year.

The first year of the MU Tri it was absolutely frigid and they ran it anyway. Rain it's still a go, as long as no lightning I think we're still on. In other news...when did they change the bike course again?!!!! I just looked again tonight and noticed it's different from 2 weeks ago, which is different from the last 2 years. Also, registrant count up to 589! Ay Caramba! It's going to take all day for the last racer to get off the course!

I'm off for this race in about 2 hours. My friend and I are driving to Oxford, riding the bike course this afternoon and then chilling out around campus and town. If any of you are going to be there this afternoon and want to join us for the scouting ride we'll be in a large, white class C RV on one of the side streets across the street from the MU pool. We'll be leaving, I suspect, about 1:30 or 2:00pm.  We're riding the hole course at a easy pace.

Anyway, good luck all and have a safe race.

Look at the map on the web site. It shows a TA outside the Rec Center, but it also shows a RUN TA. Does that mean turn around?

TA outside the rec center is Transition Area, TA on the run is the run Turn Around. I just checked the weather. It is supposed to be in the mid 50's and rainy tomorow morning. Ug.

See y'all out there tomorrow morning. I don't know if I'll run into any of you out there tomorrow but in case you are passing me (likely)--

I will be wearing a red short sleeve C9 shirt on bike and run, and can also be idenified by three tattoos: Danish Flag on shoulder, cow on left ankle, and Linus (the guy in my avatar) on my right ankle.

I also look like this (though I won't be holding the kid during the race. Maybe during transition, but not actually on the race):

I just heard from my daughter who is a member of MUSF that the race will start 15 minutes earlier than listed which will be 7:15. The bike route is going back to the original route. The reason for the earlier start and the switch on the bike route was due to a set of railroad tracks. They feel they will be okay with the extra 15 minutes.

So which original bike? The one from last year (and I believe the year before that) that goes to the NE of Oxford?

Or the original one that they had planned for this year (to the SW of Oxford)?

The first one doesn't seem to cross any tracks though the 2nd one does right near campus

Just got back. Had a blast. My 2 goals were to beat my last year's time (1:38 or so) and to crack 1:30. I managed it in 1:30:40 (According to my watch). The official results though had me at 1:31:46. My friend was also a minute slower in the official results than according to his watch.

I can understand a few seconds but it seems odds that both of us with 2 separate watches would both have a minute difference from watch to chip time (and nearly the same amount off). Anyone else see this?

It was a blast and the rain wasn't too bad. I'll get a full race report up here over the next day or so

I don't think my time was off by 1 minute by looking at the print outs at the food tent. I still haven't seen any official results on the website yet.

I forgot to start my watch so I have no idea of my time.  Anyone know when the results will be posted online?  Hope everyone had a fun race despite the rain.  I thought the event was well organized and the students had a lot of positive energy cheering at every corner.
