Run
Comments: Opted for the 5K Blue Ridge Burn since we had a good amount of rain yesterday and did not want to risk slipping on trails that are already pretty tricky. 5K pace on those twisty turny trails felt hell-bent-for-leather crazy. I had been training for the 10K distance/pace. Nice to have others to run with. Glad I have been doing speed work cause I poured it on over those few straight and flat stretches - carefully picked my way over roots & rocks on the steep downhills and walked a couple of uphills. The finish is kind of ugly, at the top of that little but steep hill with the loose rocks and sand - I prefer a finish on a downhill slope so I can look good ;-) Pleased with my time and had fun, despite some health issues and this continuing sleep problem. What would you do differently?: Run faster. Run longer race - 5K's are just too short and fast for me Post race
Warm down: Walked around and cheered for runners still on the course and coming across the finish What limited your ability to perform faster: Who knows, but not in as good a mood as usual and that might have contributed. Editted to add: OK so I ended up lying down an any horizontal surface for the rest of the day w/ fever & GI problems (unrelated to race; explains weird mood attack) Last updated: 2007-10-20 12:00 AM
