Subject: What kind of equipment (bike) should I use at gym?
Hi, I did my first Sprint Triathlon last summer and loved it. I have been concentraing running but would like to resume my biking for the upcoming tri season. However, I have no intention to ride outside in this Michigan weather. (I have no problem running outthere in single digit, but bike - no thanks.) I know this is rather a stupid quesion. What kind of bike at gym should I use? Is one of those bikes with back you sit comfortably helpful? Or do I have to look for a bike that you would ride like an outdoor bike (lean forward)? Also, what is this 'spinning class' that I hear about?

Thank you for your help!

It all depends on what is available at your gym. The most upride the seat tube, the better. Spinning classes are highly beneficial; you learn proper technique while at the same time getting a very good workout. It is about as close to riding a real bike as you can get without actually going anywhere. The downside of spinning classes is the cost and the availability. I just use the old Lifecycles at the club and keep my cadence at around 110 and that is good enough for me.
