Subject: Best time of year to buy a bike
Hey guys, this is my first post but I've been lurking on the forum for a long time. I just signed up for my first 70.3 ironman ( it wont be until June 2008) and I realize I need a new bike.

My bike seriously sucks and doesn't fit well. I'm looking for something that is under $1500. Is there a certain time of the year where it's better to buy than others? I'm thinking the really cold months....

Does anyone have any suggestions for finding a good deal on a decent bike?

are you looking online or is there a LBS close?

my LBS has a big sale in early April which has some really good deals, especially on last year models

This is a great time.  Stores are getting the 08's in stock and are putting the 07's on sale.

 You may even be able to get an 08 model on sale. I'm bike shopping now, and a lot of shops I've checked out have Christmas sales going on now. I think I've finally decided on a bike which I'm able to get for $200 less than MSRP.  Obviously though, you'll be able to get a much better deal on an 07 if you're lucky enough to find what you're looking for.

Late October and November, by this time of the year most shops will have cleared out all their 2007 stuff. Or all of my local shops have.

Good time to buy a new bike? Any day...

Seriously though I think now is a great time as bike stores business is down and they want to get rid of old stock and may be more flexible on new stock to move a bike. Depends on the shop and the market, but is always fun to look at new bikes. Take your time, ask lots of questions, get fit and try as many as you can.

You will find 07's marked down, best time in Oct & Nov. By now there should not be much 07's left so if you find your size you are lucky. It's never a bad time to get a used bike, probably where you will find your best value!
