This is all really great to see and a great thread. I am no where near as accomplished as many of you are but it is why I like this site and sport.

Came back to the sport after a year off. I've never raced a stand alone 5 or 10k so my running records are at the end of tris.

PR 5k: 24:30
PR 10k: 49:--

Completed my first Olympic distance race (2:35) and ready for more

I am looking forward to next year... The year of the bike and run.

Great thread indeed!

Took 2nd place in beginner men the MMBA CPS mountain bike series having never raced a bike before and just purchasing my first mountain bike in January.

Did my first tri

Took 2nd in age group at the Novi X-tri

Smoked the time of my first tri with my final sprint of the season, had a fantastic 3rd bike rank in AG missing second by 8 seconds. I then proceeded to tie my PR for a 5k at the end, after swimming 1000M and riding 12 miles.

The last one is very cool, got my mountain bike team to expand to include multi-sport. Watch out for the Cycle to Fitness Greyhounds in 2008!

Great thread.

Got off my butt in March after being overweight for many, many years. Lost 65 pounds (about 26% of my starting weight). Went from a size 40 pants to currently a size 35.

Took up running. Completed two 10Ks. Got my long run up to 14 miles.

Got back in the pool after not swimming for over 20 years.

Next year . . .

Signed up for my first half marathon in May
Signed up for my first triathlon in July

I pulled the trigger and registered for IM WI 2008. Since that time:

-I joined the masters swim group (after not swimming for almost 15 years) and can now easily complete the 2800-3700m workouts.

-I have been running and/or biking for about an hour every day before work.

-I weighed 187 pounds this week for the first time since 1999, and have lost 30 pounds (down from a high of 217 in July) through diet and exercise changes. At 6-1, that means on the stupid BMI scale I am finally back in "normal" range again!!!!
