Subject: RE: SWBKRUN MENTOR GROUP - FULL Hey guys,
First of all, thank you so much for your inspirations. They were great! I am very lucky to have you guys.
With the exception of the run, the race went really well. You couldn't have asked for a better day, gorgeous. I did my exact training time in the pool, and 53 minutes on the bike. My goal was 50 minutes, so we'll say there were 3 minutes wasted with my damn shoe! (see race report ) After that, the run was awful! I guess I am not fully recovered from surgery. I couldn't run! I could feel where my abdominal muscles were "pushed out of the way" during surgery, and it didn't feel like they had re-attached yet. I guess I pushed so hard on the first two events that my abs couldn't do a third. When I would try to run I felt like I was pushing muscles against a balloon! Nothing pushed back. Oh well. At least I know what the problem was, and it wasn't that I just bonked! I will share photos soon.
The hubby did outstanding. Even swimming side stroke for most of the swim he beat my swim time by 10 seconds. Aaaaagghh! He totally kicked butt on the bike (as he always does. ) He is a beast here. Although, bragging rights for me, I was only 11 minutes behind him. He didn't have as good of a run has he could have, but even so, he was 15th out of 44 in his age group of 35-39, and 74th overall from 242 men. What a stud.
For comparison, I was 18th out of 32 in my age group of 30-34, and 136th out of 205 women. Not so hot. But I was 85th out of 205 for my bike. I'm only a stud in training.
p.s. I even got to meet some fellow BTers that were doing the race. That was very cool. Edited by tahrens 2008-04-27 7:49 AM
