  • Comments: When I came out of the water and looked at my watch I was extremely mad. I figured I better pick up time in transitions and in the bike and run. I'm glad I stuck with hit and picked it up for the bike and run. I debated on doing the Oly rather than the Sprint as I am focusing this year on HIM. I was also concerned I'd lose Sprint speed because of my added volume. Bottom line, longer swims, longer rides, and longer runs only make you faster in Sprint's as well. I'm glad I did the Sprint to compare times and fitness level to last year. Now I know I'm strong enough for Oly and HIM. I'll throw some Sprints in for training purposes but if I have the choice I will stick to Oly and HIM. Next year will be full IM!

  • Comments: Finished a little slower than I wanted, but I had fun and pushed through the pain after the swim. I think my new nickname is going to be "Left"

  • Comments: This was my 2nd triathlon ever so I'm very happy to have finished #2 in my age group. They didn't have overall, but if my math is correct I came in the top 20 overall. I beat my target time by 5 minutes so I know I can continue to improve. Finishing #2 only makes me want to work harder to finish #1. The race started late, but that's ok because I arrived a little later than I wanted to. Once the race got going it was great! I'll be there next year.

  • Comments: It was a really fun race! Announcer was great, organized with lots of volunteers and cold water and Gatorade. Swim was great. Austin is such an intense Tri-community, it's a little intimating to come into from Kansas, but I learned so much! 3D racing did a very nice job despite the late start; they took care of the situation and kept safety in mind. I had a really nice time and would defiantly do this race again!

  • Comments: I don't know how this ranks overall, it was my first Tri, but I liked it. the swim course for sprint was a breeze. The bike was not too bad but the gravel on some of the turns gave me a little bit of a scare. The run course was much rougher than I expected.

  • Comments: I liked the race but I think the run trail was too challenging for me. Overall I was happy with it all though. My personal goal was to complete it under 1:45:00 and I did it. My other goal was not to walk at all during the run, which I messed up, so I was upset about that. When compared against were I would have come in on my age group I would have been #14 out of 23, which is better than I ever expected. And thanks to the fact that there were barely any athenas I won that!

  • Comments: I'd do it again because I know the site from Danskin. I like how the bike course went the other way than danskin did so the hills werent as hard.

  • Comments: Since this is my first, I don't know if it's good or bad. Race didn't start on time, but that can happen. I thought they did a good job, except my hotel they recommended sucked bad (Holiday Inn Town Lake). Race was good though.

  • Comments: The race starting late was a distraction and the RD should have just stepped up and apologized instead of trying to blame everyone else. Once things got going, it was a nice race. There were lots of volunteers, post-race was decent. I'll probably do it again.

  • Comments: The race itself went very well. The barracade snafu should never have happened, but the final result was just fine. (Special thanks to the Sheriffs Dept for their extra effort here.) However one swim wave (mine - men 34 & under) turned at the wrong bouy, so our swim times were shorter than others. This should have been prevented by a volunteer. Because of this, overall rankings were not valid (although age groups were still good). Things that were good included: - Nice course - Made use of delay time to clarify the course and answer additional questions. - plenty of volunteers - good traffic control - plenty of bike rack space (if people would just use it fairly) - post-race food (better than just bagels and bananas) - post-race raffle - bike jersey for early registration was a nice, different touch Some of the pre-race/logistics still need some work. Specifically, these were the things I noticed: - Check-in only had a single line, and just wasn't set up as well as

  • Comments: Things got off to a bit of a rocky start - 3D apparently dropped the ball on getting the bike course set up, some equipment problems, body marking was "buddy style". It made for some unhappy folks. I thought it was fine - the weather was great - we were surrounded by great folks. I didn't rack my bike on Saturday - I'm glad I didn't. I wasn't asked to show a race number entering or leaving the T-area - ever! I even left the transition area with my bike before the race began to get something from my car and never even got a second look. Afterward, I walked out with my bike and nobody checked to see if I was a participant. There were tons of non-racers in the transition area all morning before the event and by the time I finished. That stuff makes me pretty nervous. It also seems they took an extended amount of time to post results to the website (which continues to be up and down). Kind of disappointing. Overall, I loved the course - the race itself was fantastic! I think 3d needs

  • Comments: I wound'nt do this race again and don't think many others who did it in 2005 would as well. It's not USAT sactioned (they lost their license due to issues with following USAT rules). The race coordination, course prep, volunteer coordination and general treatment by the racing company (3D Productions) was not what we expect in Austin. They are from out of town and seemed to have come to town and ignored the locals as they tried to milk the triathlon community for as much profit as they could take. The race shirts were terrible and severly too small unless you were 5'2" and 95 lbs. I tried to exchange my shirt and the race director told me it was too bad! What? I paid money for this and that's the answer that I got. Good luck 3D, you won't get me in a race of yours again.
