  • Post race activities? Below average
  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: Lied about run being smooth and flat, lots of short, but steep hills, gravel and sand. Could have had distance markers on bike route, would have been nice to know how much farther. Afterwards crowded area with minimal snacks you had to jostle with people to get to. Someplace to sit would have been nice.

  • Comments: It was an all-women's race. I am SO glad I went with this race. It was a lot less intimidating for me than it would have been otherwise. It was a really ENJOYABLE race. Totally want to do it again next year!!

  • Comments: if they would not split age groups between waves I'd be well happy. might be time to have a first wave for those racing for the overall so that those who have a shot to place overall, all race on a level playing field. The volunteers needed a big hand for not only volunteering but doing it in the rain. If they could just reassign the rude, loud guy from the TA who barked out orders like a Sgt Major to new recruits it would be good. Well organised event. Nice tees. I love to race at WT. This race also tends to get slightly bigger crowds as every racer brings friends/spouses/kids. It's also USAT-sanctioned and gives 5 time splits.

  • Comments: They needed to educated their volunteers and teh volunteers needed to be more vocal. At points on the bike, we were practically passed the turn and they would yell "right!" and we'd have to swerve to make it. It was also frustrating to have people yelling at you to get out of the transition area in the beginning and stressing everyone out. It felt like, even though you were on time and needed one or two more minutes to double check your spot, they were going to start without you (which they weren't). Their pre-race announcements were muffled and hard to listen to and the swim course was confusing until they finally explained it. All in all it was a great race, but needed a little more organization in the rain.

  • Comments: Even a bad day of tri racing is still a good day. No regrets at this time and I am looking forward to the next tri season.

  • Comments: One of the race volunteers was actually pretty rude/loud/obnoxious in the transition area. At the end of the pre-race meeting he yelled at the racers and supporters to listen to the speaker. He was constantly yelling at racers to go in the right direction in the trans areas and yelled at racers and supporters to keep their distance when near the trans area. It's one thing to talk loudly so everyone hears you, but he sounded like a pissed off father yelling at a teenager. It was not necessary and very much unappreciated. I really liked the water station that went into the trans area, but I hated having only one during the run. I guess that was the balance they had to make. Overall organization was ok and the routes were great, but I felt like there were some marking issues. I couldn't find the end of the swim on the shoreline and couldn't tell where the finish to the race was! And I know I wasn't the only one because the woman who finished first was actually directed incorrectly to

  • Comments: HMF usually puts on a good race. Always fun to do an all women's event focused on beginners of all ages. Lots of good vibe. The field was twice as big this year!

  • Comments: Will do this again (unless it's as cold as it was!) It was the first year they put it on, so minor glitches, but nothing bad.

  • Comments: I really liked this race. From a spectator stand point it was done really well, the swim, transitions, and finish were very close to each other. plently of place to park and a playscape for the kids. lots of vendors on race day (would have liked more on Saturday) Great event!

  • Comments: As would be expected from the Hartford Marathon folks this was a classy event with some special attention to detail for the women: there was a table (I heard) coming up the beach where you could leave spectacles or anything else you thought you might need for the run up; the TA was also on the asphalt basketball court instead of on the dirt (yes that's 250-300 women and their bikes and their gear and at least 200 washing up bowls!!) all on one b'ball court! The finishers medals were very unique and thoughtful and the post-race expo had folks from REI, Dunkin' Donuts, Whole Foods, Sam Adams (yes, beer at 10 a.m.), Panera, Collinsville Bakery, Farmington PT etc etc. My first posted time was off about 4-5 mins from my time on my watch but when I told them that I started in the third wave that sorted it out. Shouldn't really be my responsibility to time my race and make sure the timing is accurate for an $80 entry fee - this correction lifted me from 12th overall to 3rd. I didn;t take my splits

  • Comments: This was a great inaugural event by Hartford Marathon Foundation. I did this race to support the event and to be there to support all the women doing their first race or capping their first season of racing triathlon. So many inspiring stories. We had several women from many AGs place in the race yesterday including the 60/64. Which is just so cool!
