  • Comments: This is a great race in a beautiful lake, with a flat bike and run. It is VERY well organized and supported. If you're looking for a huge race with lots of extravagance, this is not the race for you. If you want a small field / small town feel with great race support, this is for you.

  • Comments: The volunteers were simply amazing! Handing out bottles during the bike and then helping so much during the run. For a first experience, this was a great race to run. It's a smaller venue, which I think makes it somewhat less intimidating, but was incredibly well organized and managed. I never felt like I was alone or abandoned while out on the course.

  • Comments: They put on one hell of a race here. The amount of volunteers that were there was awesome. They had two different aid stations on the bike course and then every mile of the run. They announce your' name and where you are from when you cross the line which was cool. Got to meet trigal38 who came over and talked to me a couple minutes after I crossed. Hi Dina! Otherwise I thought that I would definitely come back and do this course again. It has a very deceiving run course after a flat bike but don't let it fool you! Thanks to my wife, kiddo, and brother-in-law for supporting myself and the sister through this race!

  • Comments: The volunteers were absolutely OUTSTANDING! They were out there in the heat too and seemed really concerned with everyone on the course. They did a great job of having all the aid items ready and available. Simply the best I have ever seen. The aid stations were well supplied and had ample choices of wares. No need for a fuel belt here this year but I wore mine an used the water to refill my sponges from time to time. The Deputies controlled traffic very, very well. Mucho Gracias to all of the volunteers, Deputies and event staff.

  • Comments: Tough race especially with the weather. Bike course is deceptively challeging and a little rough. The run course is at least 1/2 gravel and has very, very little shade. On sunny, hot, humid days it is brutal. The volunteers were GREAT and the aid stations were VERY WELL stocked.

  • Comments: I'll tell you what - the volunteers were absolutely AMAZING! They hooked us up today - they knew people were struggling and did everything in their power to make the day better for us. I thanked each and every one of them out there - GREAT job!

  • Comments: The conditions killed everyone out there. Folks were saying they were 1 hr below PR's they have set this year. And the 26% DNF seems high. Overall I'm bummed out by my run and overall race time since I was hoping for a 5:15 but oh well. Maybe next time.

  • Comments: Great race! Hotter than blazes though. There was a 25% DNF out of 180 participants. My race went perfectly, I still can't get over how well it went. Confidence booster for IM Lou!!

  • Comments: This race gets good reviews from me because of the atmosphere. There are lots of supportive, positive people out there. The competitors were generally very nice. The Cutting Edge folks really made a great effort to take care of everybody at the finish line. Good stuff.

  • Comments: This was a perfect race for my first HIM event, small, well organized, not that overwhelming racy feel. I never got nervous even as the swim was starting. This surprised me the most of all this weekend. I finished my first HIM and therefore I'm happy! Even got a nifty finishers medal. Now time to get better. I was able to meet a couple BTers (Brett and John U.) in trans area prior to race and got a "hey BT" on the race course a few times too, so that was cool. Big thanks to all the volunteers and to my friends and family that waited around for 6 hrs , while I punished myself: )

  • Comments: A big part of the run loop was on a state highway which was monitered by a sherrif. About the time I got out there for my second loop (5 1/2 hours into the race) the sherrifs left and the traffic was unfettered. That was not good and could have led to a disaster. Next year they need to either get a commitment to have the highway monitored until they pull people off the course, or change the course. Either would be fine, but it was not good to have a bunch of people running on a state highway that was hilly enough that cars could not see us as the came over the crest of a hill and no sherrif to keep the traffic all in one lane. It was terrific to meet Chris K., Brandon J. and John U.'s family. Just super to have friends at the event. They all waited and were there to cheer as I finished, Brandon was 3rd in his age group.

  • Comments: Good race. I would have liked the miles to have been marked and marked correctly. The info about the loop on the bike course and the 2 lap run was news to me on race morning. Fun race though with a good course and friendly people.

  • Comments: Race director tries but needs more help. They need a lot more post race food and activities (massage), excitement for finishers.
