  • Comments: I found this race to be a lot of fun. I did not care for the space between the finish and transition area. Getting your stuff out of transition was a little chaotic for my taste. My first HIM is behind me and I can honestly say I learned a lot.

  • Comments: This was an excellent HIM for me to do. The swim was with the current, the bike was relatively flat with a few long rollers and the run was flat. The weather also cooperated to a great extent. The day before the race it got up to 98 degrees. For the event it rained most of the morning so the temperature dropped to around 80 degrees. It was a real spectator-friendly course for the run because it was two loops in the downtown area. My family saw me running at least 6 - 7 times during the run. The event was really well-organized and there were plenty of volunteers to help. The citizens of Augusta were also out in high numbers cheering us on. My number had my name on it so many called me by name. I also had a BT tri outfit on so some of the BTers cheered and encouraged me. This was a lot of fun and I will be back next year.

  • Comments: I really like this venue. Fast swim, really fun bike and flat run with great crowds. It has its issues that seem to be working out. I hear the ran out of medals later in the day. No excuse for that. It would have pissed me off big time. I think overall they do a good job.

  • Comments: I had a great time. This was probably the most enjoyable race I have ever completed. I felt I was well trained to reach my goals, now I just have to set loftier goals. I was disappointed when I crossed the finish line that they had run out of finisher medals. I have never received a valid explanation from the race director and I am extrmely mad that they have no properly addressed this situation. Besides that, the race was great.

  • Comments: Although I don't see myself doing Augusta 70.3 again, it is an awesome course. I think the only problem is the amount of competitors. Field could be reduced a few hundred I would think. Oh yeah, that drill instructor deputy was the bomb!! "There's no walking on this block!!!"

  • Comments: Thanks to the people of Augusta, GA for being great hosts to this great event. I'am coming back next year. Can't think of a better place for having done my first HIM. Thanks to the BTers on the Augusta 70.3 blog. Great information was provided that helped me and others plan and execute the race.

  • Comments: For it being a half IM 4 weeks after my first full IM - it was one of my best races this year. I know you can't really compare this with sprints or a full but I didn't get sick on the bike and I didn't fall apart on the run like I normally do regardless of the distance. Mentally I was not with it at first but it all came together for a really good race and a 30 min PR from last year!!! I'll take it :)

  • Comments: There were many good things about the race. I loved the course and the volunteers and spectators were wonderful. There were also a few disappointing things about the race. The expo was a little disappointing as only Ironman had products displayed. The line for registration was extremely long on Sat and they only had 4 people working the line. The swag bags only came with one little Gatorade bottle and a few ads for discounts at local eateries in Augusta.

  • Comments: I actually really liked this race and going into it I didn't think I would. So many people, so many logistical things that had to be planned but overall when I focus just on the race itself and the course I thought it was awesome. I had a great time during the whole race. The volunteers were amazing! Especially the drill sergeant cop at on the intersections of the run...he made me smile. And the lady with the little dinner bell that she must had rung for hours on her front porch and the little boy and his Mom who were played the drums and toy trumpet, all the old men cheering me on...kinda creepy but also funny- must have been the pink running skirt :)...stuff like that I never want to forget...hence the novel of a race report.

  • Comments: Overall good day, this was my first Ironman branded race, I tend to do smaller local races, the competition was really good to see how I can stack up against but I enjoy the smaller races more, plus they are a lot cheaper, I will look into doing the SC Half next year or the speculated rev3 race near Atlanta.

  • Comments: Had a fantastic weekend with Watson, Geoff and Kendro. Great performance and was able to share the experience with all of them which always makes racing more fun! Wasn't intending on returning to Augusta but Geoff did mention going next year so who knows maybe we'll make it 3 for 3 down there!!!

  • Comments: PROS: Volunteers are wonderful. ARMY and Police had great coverage to protect bikers and runners. Wave starts to get the field off safely. CONS: 1. OK WTC, I've noticed you are cutting back more and more. Cheaper will cost you. Very disappointed in you not having enough Medals. WTF? 2. I just did a 70.3 and without any notice I now have to walk another 1 mile to get my bike and bring it back? What about those that are injured. I was alone except a friend(s) who had also just done IM and yes, I could barely move. So I shuffeled to get my bike. 3. Check in? 2 folks? Poor planning when you have several other rooms avaiabel but again WTC you shave costs? I mean how much did you really save. Im sensing some WTC issues with planning and I simply recommend WTC utilize some professionals to examine their process. Make it a great experience, grow the sport, and your dollar will grow...or become the WalMart of Triathlons and you become a commodity. IM is a brand that

  • Comments: Thia has been a great experience. i followed the BT 20 week HIM training plan and it was the best decision I have ever made. i was ready lost the 20lbs I needed to and found a lot of fitness. I enjoyed the training as much or more than the race. I would highly recommend.. NOW A NUTRITION PLAN!! Great race for me, 2 years ago I never thought it would happen. This will not be my last HIM.

  • Comments: Loved the race, but didn't really care for the logistics of the transition site versus the finish line. Was a little surprised there were no finisher hats or shirts given away at the finish line and that they actually ran out of medals for the late finishers.

  • Comments: The timing chips they had were CRAP. They literally CUT my leg on the run. I've seen much nicer chips (neoprene against the skin) at races with a $50 entry fee, so I don't know why not here. Otherwise, it was an EXCELLENT race and an AMAZING experience. I had expected, based on my training, to do in between 6hrs (for a 'perfect' race) and 6.5 hrs (realistically). I ended up going 5:36 for my first HIM!!! I'm well on my way to do my first IM w/ a sub-12 hour time!!!!!
