  • Comments: Overall, I thought this was a good race and I'm glad that this was my first olympic distance race (especially with a London Olympian racing!). What I'm most disappointed in was the lack of communication from race organizers. There was little to no info at packet pickups, nothing in the packets, all the athlete briefings were cancelled AT THE BRIEFINGS, and poor race day information about the swim course (unless I missed it). I would expect more from a WTC-branded race (5150), but I will be back in the future. It's the biggest race in KC, and I still had a great time.

  • Comments: Well run. Solid volunteers. Good course. Awesome finishers medal (this year's medal is double the size of last year's). The entire race day event went smoothly. Pre-race communication has some room for improvement. Website was out of date for a while, despite early email blasts to sign up for the event. The bike course changed a couple of times without any notification.

  • Comments: This was my 1st Olympic distance. I had a lot of trouble but I finished, I didnt quit and fought through a lot of pain. Better than sitting on the couch all day I guess. BTW, nothing to me is more motivation than the better triathletes who finish and come back to the course to cheer you on. Not just standing there clapping but looking you in the eye as you pass and talking directly to you. This always impresses the heck out of me. Thanks to all of you that do that. You make a difference.

  • Comments: I've attended many races (bike, run and motocross) over the past ten 10 years. This was by far the most organized, well-run race I've attended. They used this Ultramax timing system thing and I was able to get a printout immediately after my race with all my times and finishing position (although they are preliminary and my final results did change slightly). That was extremely cool. Maybe a lot of triathlons do this same thing, but it is a great touch. Everything - registration, parking, body marking, aid stations, on-time start - all very smooth.

  • Comments: This was well run, upbeat and fun-lots of spectators, not a bad venue. Parking is tough for spectators that want to watch but not arrive at 6am. Finishing medal is cool and a good race packet which I haven't seen in some time

  • Comments: This is a really fun, well-organized and well-supported race. It's a nice course, not too easy or hard, and they have good post-race support as well: Lots of food, drinks, even grilled hamburgers & beer. Plus they printed out little results sheets for everyone right after you finished with all your splits & stats. That was very cool, and a nice surprise. This is a race I will definitely do again!

  • Comments: Another good race with new RD. Great time traveling with TriRochester group again. Jerry & Donna did another great job hosting all of us. Sawra and I were 3rd in our AG, Jenny and Harvey won their AG. 4 podium finishers is another great showing for the club.

  • Comments: A great race. This was very well run and it seemed like so many of the details that come with a race were being taken care of. Everything from the race packet, to the numerous volunteers all over the course, the aid stations, food, post race medal and towel, etc. was put together very well. The local tri community was out in strong force today.

  • Comments: Great post race activities and excellent race, I think this one will continue to grow. Note the "Triathlon Experience" was not as good an experience as last year, still a good value with the reserved parking, shade for the family, and extra swag but the porta-crapper to athlete ratio was low as was the masseuse to athlete ratio.

  • Comments: Ultramax runs a great event from the very beginning to the finish chute. Times were instant, as soon as you cross the line, they have someone printing out your split times and handing it over. Free hamburgers/hotdogs, free beer, water and pop.

  • Comments: First multisport podium- nice! Most of the big competition was in the olympic race today, but I'll take the win any way I can get it. Really went into this race with no expectations other than to get a little swim confidence and knock the rust off before IM KS in two weeks. I knew I had suffered some speed loss in the last 20 weeks of HIM training so I tried not to think about times too much. Very well run race. Had a great time and will be back next year for sure.

  • Comments: Great time traveling, preparing with our TriRochester group. The elder Carey's hospitality was beyond expectations. Great to have Mark Carey win a hometown race. We also had Andy and Sawra win their AG. Diana and Harvey were 2nd. We had an awesome club showing. I'll strongly consider coming back next year. A few more porta-potties would have been good.

  • Comments: First year for event but they pulled it off very well. I was told transition racks were numbered so I arrived at 6:15 but with family rather than driving separately and arriving at 5am. Surprise, transition is first come, first served, but there really were no bad spots with the flow through layout. Would've liked a bit more communication, i.e. site map with parking but I everything about the event was well run, I'll be back next year. Really liked the mass start, it's nice knowing that you're racing someone, not 5 minutes up or 5 minutes back.

  • Comments: Awesome race. Make sure you have this one on your races for 2010!!!!! One thing is that I was in the 30-34 age group, when in reality I turn 35 this year, so should have been in the 35-39 age group. Not sure why I was in the younger age group.

  • Comments: The KC triathlon was great. I'll be back. My only issue would be a lack of info about the race ahead of time. It would have been great to have info on aid stations(locations and drinks). Also info on parking and the layout for the swim course would have been nice.

  • Comments: First year for this race and it was absolutely flawless! These guys are goooooood... thank god for a new organization putting on quality races in this area. Soooo many volunteers, plenty of drink stations, superbly-marked bike and run course... what more could you ask for? There was even TONS of beer at the awards ceremony. You know how it usually runs out? I saw them re-loading the ice bins towards the END of the awards ceremony. Now, I didn't drink any but that is some good thinking. Even the awards ceremony had a level of energy I haven't seen at a local race in a long time. Very cool. I HIGHLY recommend!!! Great job Ryan and staff!

  • Comments: Innaugural KC Triathlon - they did a great job. TONS of volunteers on the swim, bike, and run courses, and they were very supportive. I would do this race next year and definitely recommend it to friends.
