  • Comments: Great race as expected of any event organized by Aaron Palaian's OnUrMark Productions. The sheer number of volunteers makes these events fantastic, whether in the water, in transition, guiding traffic, handing out hydration, they all cheer you on as you go. When you're feeling low because you're not performing to your fullest it is these volunteers that help push you on to keep on going. I'll be back next year.

  • Comments: This race would get a 5, but the Bike was cancled. I know it was out of the hands of the race management and they cannot be faulted for the weather, but still is a bummer.

  • Comments: Had a storm come through Friday night through Saturday. It rained off and on down in League City, but nothing spectacular. Apparently Cypress had about the least amount of rain throughout the Houston area, but RD sent out an email saying that the bike leg of the race had been cancelled. Woke up at 4am, read the email, decided to go back to bed. Cypress is almost an hour and a half away and I still can't run, so I couldn't justify the time/effort to go swim 1500m. Think we'll go for a ride around here today instead. Seriously disappointed, but if my knee was at a point where I could run, I probably would have gone....just didn't make sense for a swim then walk.

  • Comments: This was a great race and well orginized. The lack of fluids sucked but it happens, just run along to the next one. This was my first "On UR LEFT" race, and it was great, i will defiantly do another one. Might try and do all of them next year.

  • Comments: This race was the 3rd I have done this year (or ever) by OnUrMark. They always put on good races. The race changed venue's just over a month ago and that may have had some impact on the race. This isn't to ding the race at all, but in comparison to Bridgeland I fent there were a few things missing. I know it is September but it was still really hot, I could have used the ice sponges and the ice cold towel. It seemed like the SWAG was lesser than for Bridgeland and I only mention it as I thought Houston was suppose to be the cumulation race for the season. Still, I plan to do this race next year as well and will recommend it to anyone.

  • Comments: Great race! Only two improvements would be to have a port-a-john right at the run out and have a central houston packet pickup during the week.

  • Comments: Onurmark puts on great events! I very much enjoyed all 3 of theirs that I raced this year. If it weren't for the long T1, I would have PRed by about 3 minutes.

  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: Very well put on event with a lot of unique challenges throughout the course. It's nice to have some variety in the events, seems a lot of people just want flat/fast/PR courses but I prefer the uniqueness of an event. I wasn't a huge fan of the long transition run but that's cause I suck at running. Aaron did the best he could with the situation and I hope the 2-loop swim course stays around for next year! Personally I'm slightly frustrated with my race, I gave it everything I had that day but it sucks when you know there's more to give... I'm glad to figure out the bike issue now rather than Clearwater and am looking forward to a few more weeks of hard training before taper!

  • Comments: A well-run race. Traffic jam coming in, but mostly because so many people got there on the late side. I should know not to be one of those people.

  • Comments: Excellent race. The most varied run course I can think of. Flat and fast bike course with plenty of police and cones. Swim to bike transition distance was a little long, but I think that just added to the unique nature of this race.

  • Comments: I did not like the swim course and hated starting so far back in the waves. I'm guessing the reasoning for the waves is the amount of people in each wave and maybe the average expected race time for that group but it really caused problems for me with all of the passing I had to do on the swim and bike. I would like to try getting into an invitational wave for a race to see how that goes with being able to leave first. Overall, this was a good race for my first Olympic distance race. My goal was to be under 2h 15min but there were a lot of factors that I had not considered. My goal time for the swim was 20 min but looking at the results, no one swam 20 min so maybe a long course or just a lot of traffic? My goal on the bike was 1h5min, I was very close to this and considering the near crash. My run? Well thats just a work in progress, no comment!
