  • Comments: I have extended the "bulking up" stage of my training a little longer than I intended, so this race was going to kick off my serious training. My plan was to keep it at IM pace, which I assumed would mean taking it easy, but I couldn't keep the pace. The good news, maybe great news, is that the long layoff seems to have healed my nagging hamstring problem, one and a half years after it started. I guess this means I have to start running. Overall, I enjoyed the race, the company was excellent and made it worth the pain. Thanks, Baby Doll.

  • Comments: I guess I can say I have a new Oly PR. I beat my Disney Oly, 2:59:43, by 1 second. But the Disney Oly had a short bike course and was flat and Chattanooga was full length and challenging. So, even though the times don't show it, I have made progress over last year. Hopefully, next week I will be able to show a time improvement at the NYC Tri. The only thing to worry about there is swimming in the Hudson.

  • Comments: Other than the delayed start and the issue with the timing equipment delaying the winners announcements, it was really (from what I could tell) run well. I will definitely do this again next year.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed the race. The race organization was good. The late start was not the fault of the race, but the police, so I won't be holding that against the race. I couldn't have asked for much better weather given how miserably hot it was there last year. Temps this year were definitely cooler and the overcast skies through the bike course definitely helped me stayed focused on things besides the heat. This course was not easy, but I really enjoyed it and will likely put it on my race calendar again in the future.

  • Comments: Once again Team Magic put on a great race. This was my biggest race to date and maybe was a little more than I wanted. I'll be prepared next year knowing what I know now. There are a lot of great triathletes in the southeast region and every race I get to meet more of them.

  • Comments: I had a great time! I accomplished my lofty goals. #1 I had a good time. #2 I felt that I did a good job on getting my breathing rhythm down and not feeling that I may need to get pulled from the water or drown. I think I can improve my swimming a little more now. #3 Same as number 1. I had a good time. I had a good time Saturday night eating with the gang. I had a good time doing the "race". I had a good time hanging out with everyone at the tent. I had a great time with Kraig, Courtney, Kirk, Heather, Leslie and her kids going to the wading pool afterwards to wash of the sweat. We looked like rednecks taking a bath, particularly since Courtney had a beer in her hand. :) I had good time going to the restaurant/brewery after the race to eat with the redneck gang. ;) I want to thank Elena, the new Rebecca, Deb, Karen, Megan, Sal, Andrew, and both Jamie's for coming out and cheering us on and helping out.

  • Comments: The race was great. The only complaint is it not starting on time and pushing my start time back to 9am which is really late for an oly. I will definitely do this race again. Hopefully next year the current will be a bit stronger. :)

  • Comments: I love a flat course and all, but I'd do this race again for the challenge. I think Team Magic does a great job and I liked the run portion. Maybe next year, we'll have some downstream current and no headwind on the bike.

  • Comments: Great race. Highly recommended. The course changes were perfect. I think they will work out the kinks of the start, and come up with a better solution to get the better athletes on the course first.. Time trial means someone always has to start at the back, and even go last, but the better athletes should get to go first. I don't much appreciate the fact that all I have to look at during my race is men in my age group.. I need more incentive than that. One additional note: I qualified for Age Group Nationals in Portland Oregon next June.. whew, don't need to worry about doing that at St. Anthony's next year. :)

  • Comments: I really hated the bike course, disliked the swim course, and loved the run course. I will not do this race again if they continue to keep the bike course on the highway, this was boring and mentally draining. How can there not be a more scenic course in all of Chattanooga? Took close to 48 hours to post results, which was also very disappointing.

  • Comments: I had a fun time at the race overall and I was told that I always had a smile on my face! I was pretty hard on myself afterwards and then I decided to let up. This was only my second triathlon and my first in almost two years and this was a C race for me. In addition, I only started being consistent in my training 8 weeks ago. I am looking forward to the rest of the season and have a century ride and 3 more triathlons and possibly a half mary. I guess some of us just get a late start sometimes. I now know where my areas of focus need to be...swimming and running, but I cannot let up on the bike. The best part of the weekend was meeting so many people from bt! I think it is great how this site brings so many people together! Thanks Ron and Marma! Also, big thanks Dollar for letting me borrow the bike and being a great jockstrapper! Also, it was very interesting to be in a humid climate! That is one that I am not used to...I remember thinking "why am I not dried off from the swim

  • Comments: As usual, Team Magic puts on a first rate event. They were quite a bit late with the swim start, but that was totally outside their control. The course was quite challenging, but in a good way. I would recommend this race to anybody. Most of my decision making during this tri was based on the fact that I was gunning for an AG nationals spot. This is really the first time that I have ever raced and/or competed in a tri, not counting GJCC (as I had no idea I was top 10 until after I finished, and the field wasn't particularly strong). There were some impressively fast guys on course, and I knew it would take everything I could give it to hang with them. I ended up finishing 19/65, and earned a slot to Portland next year in the process. I also set an Oly PR by 15 minutes (my first, and only other Oly was NYC 06, where I finished 2:49:35 with a >1hr 10k), not taking into account the extra 1.5 miles of the bike course.

  • Comments: This course was really nice. My biggest gripe is with the individual starts, going 3 seconds after the person in front of you. This makes it so you have no idea how you stand in the race and they put the Male 20-24 as one of the last groups, so we were having to pass people of all speeds constantly. Also, they had scheduled bus times to take us to the start. I was doing a warmup on my bike at the transition and they said the last bus was leaving soon (way before when it was scheduled) so I had to cut my warmup short, then they were running late at the start, so I had a long time (I forget how long, but it was well over an hour) to sit in a poorly shaded grass field with nothing but my swim trunks.
