  • Comments: Surreal moment to be the first AG'er into transition in such a large event and to win the relay division. Never been near the podium, so even as a relayer it was a special moment. We got personally engraved pure Maple Syrup as prizes, so the pancakes the next morning were especially awesome. My only slight disappointment was that Chrissie usually comes to this race and hangs out with the Make-A-Wish racers, but as she is taking this year off she wasn't there. She did send us an email greeting and gave us a copy of her book. Hopefully we'll see her next year. Not much more to say.

  • Comments: Timberman is one of my favorite 70.3 races. It is in a great location and has a mellower feel then most of the races you go to. The temps are nice for an August race and the course is spectacular. I will come back again to race this course, not next year, but some time in the future.

  • Comments: There were a lot of bike riders on the run course for some strange reason - and a ton of local traffic, which made things very crazy. The post race food is poor and not much going on after - vendors are packed up and out, what little food was almost gone by the time 75% finished - the last 25% were out of luck.

  • Comments: Truthfully....just glad I finished! Had a fairly bad crash here last year. I have my races planned for 2013 (much less, but longer races, i.e. FULL IRONMAN...and one 1/2), so I am thinking I may be back in 2014 to redeem myself even more.

  • Comments: Timberman is a very well organized and family-friendly weekend of racing, including a Saturday sprint to go along with the 70.3 on Sunday. Some of the logistics involved in getting back-and-forth between the race site at the state park and the expo and other events at Gunstock Mtn resort are a challenge, but that's a minor quibble, really.

  • Comments: best experience at any race ever! I think this was my 18th HIM so had lots to compare it to...even with Louisville twice and Florida once this was still my favorite....think it has something to do with meeting Chrissie though :)

  • Comments: Ironman needs to step it up a bit and not just rely on name recognition. The expo was seriously lacking, the SWAG bag was a joke and you get a shirt at registration and a hat (if you finish) but it doesn't even say finisher on it. The race itself was fairly well organized and the volunteers were outstanding. But after the race it's quite confusing were the different tents are...took quite awhile to find the food tent, never found massage tent and just too many people in a smallish area.

  • Comments: From start to finish, from packet pickup to post race food, this race was top notch. For all the complaining people do about Ironman-branded races, this is a perfect example of why people keep filling up their events and coming back year after year. The course was beautiful, the volunteers were fantastic, and the race a real delight.

  • Comments: I agree with other comments I saw about the post race food being less than great. Otherwise, the race was awesome. The logistics were much better than I had read about. The "challenging" hill at mile 9-10 is tough, but not killer if you're trained up. My training really paid off. My plan came from BT by signing up for a Gold Membership. I also got the online coaching. Coach Mike was awesome for me! He helped me modify the base plan built by BT and his modifications really helped me improve. Overall, I felt the race was hard, but fair and, more importantly, fun . . . and, I was ready and properly trained. I was very lucky to have family and friends there to support me. And, Jamie, my girlfriend, was the best cheerleader of them all (for me and others). Plus, some people I know from Pittsburgh were up there, and I got to enjoy watching them race. I met some new, great people. It was a great weekend, in a great location, with a great venue. I am a very happy man.

  • Comments: Post race food was horriable!! Ironman events are really starting to suck and are not worth the CASH!!! I just don't understand why the commercialization of an event has to RUIN it - Niantic Bay is very similar once Amica took over.

  • Comments: This has the opportunity to be a vacation week after the race, Travel Friday, Race Sunday, vacation and travel Sunday again. A lot of fun things to do in the area, 9 hour drive though-as long as you avoid NYC. Race TSS was 359.9, if .69 / pre-race, tsb +19.6, CTL 51.5

  • Comments: They did an overall excellent job and the race directors really look out for their last runners. The fact that they had basically torn down the post race events other than awards for 70.3 qualifiers sucked. they also had run out of medals before i finished which also sucked, and about 100 of us still havent gotten them as of 7 weeks post race. It was a humbling gratifying and wonderful experience and am so proud to have completed and finished. This wont be my last 70.3 to be sure.
