  • Comments: For me, lack of planning on the part of the race director (I understand emergencies happen, but no #2 person to take over and final results took weeks to post because of it) including palnning a run with stairs caused this to be an unpleasant race for me. Do not plan on attending in the future as the course was hosed, the results were late, the attention to the participants was minimal, and communication was poor.

  • Comments: Overall this was "just another Tempe Town Lake" race. But that by no means implies it was bad. The race was much better organized than last year hence making it much more enjoyable. For a warmup race during the season I couldn't ask for much more than racing with a great group of friends during a fun, convenient race.

  • Comments: It was a fun well run race. I was a little concerned about the bike course but it turned out to be alright. The bike was a little long, at least by my computer, but considering this race was a little more expensive that’s ok. A few extra miles never killed anybody right?

  • Comments: I had a good time today. I would like it if for once I could race around TTL and it not be over 90. My goal was to practice for Boise and not get injured. I accomplished that. The course had plenty of cold water which was nice. The race schwag was weak. Where are the race splits. Why have all of the timing mats if splits are not published? A water bottle or medal would be nice. The ESCKTC had a very nice showing.

  • Comments: The race itself went better than I thought- bike course wasnt as bad as I expected. Race schwag was kind of lame, and I do hope they post official splits. Luckily I wore 2 watches and have my own splits. I'd probably do it again esp if entering with a club/group.

  • Comments: This overall was the worst feeling race I have ever had. Even in my first few races I felt better than this. So, I've been resting for the last part of May and hope to start up in June using this bad race as a motivator to keep me going through April 13th.

  • Comments: I am a little mystified again by the fact that this race company does not provide anything but water during the race. We pay the same amount as the other races. I told myself last year that I wasn't going to participate, but ended up doing it because the Tribute tri was canceled. I still had a good time, just seems a little off.

  • Comments: Two months ago, I was an overweight smoker who spent his evenings and weekends laying around watching T.V. My only goal in life was to make it through the next day. Things have changed immensely in a very short amount of time. I have met some wonderful, positive people who I enjoy training with and talking with on this site. I feel energetic, have lost a lot of weight, and haven't even thought of smoking. Sunday May 20, 2007 was a very good day for me. Now I want more!

  • Comments: The event organizers know this is a hot event, why not combined some of the wave starts so we can all be in the water by 7am. Need cold towels and gatorade on the run course. Also, why is there never a beer garden at tri's?

  • Comments: Instead of a comments section here I'm going to add a ranting section. I'm actually a little suprised that this race went as well as it did. The race organizer is apparently infamous for fantastic failures. (Racing through raw sewage in the streets of Rocky Point for example) The most notable failures this time around were a lack of communication and a lack of sports drink. The main announcer, I assume the director, was one the worst I've ever worked with. The pre-race briefing gave unclear and contradictory information. His tone was consistently condescending. He took the mike while people were finishing and quashed their accomplishments by yelling at kids. So instead of people hearing for example, "Number 480 Harry Meier, congratulations!" they heard this guy yelling at people. The volunteers and secondary support crew were the saving grace as they seemed to know how to talk to people and keep everyone hydrated and moving. The support staff made up for the incorrect info by giving correct

  • Comments: This is a fun race, but it is a little chaotic sometimes. The RD is super guy, just not the ebst at timimg. I didn't mind the aid stations having only water as that's all I have time for, but I can understand other people complaining about the lack of additional aid product, especially if they were still on the course after 10:00am when the temps really got up there. The awards ceremony took a while to get started as well.

  • Comments: The event itself was terrific. Very well done just like Havasu was. As I've stated in my blog I have had to re-evaluate why I'm doing Tri's. I have had nothing but dread approaching the last two longer races and no the usual excitement. Oly training for me is work and I find myself looking for excuses to skip workouts. I even almost didn't go to the race. Shoot I took me until last Tuesday to make the hotel reservation! On the other side, I really like doing the sprints. They are fun for me. I know I'll never get a sub 1-hour sprint but they are fun none-the-less.

  • Comments: They need to get their stuff in gear for post race events...talk about crazy stuff like awards going to the wrong people and all kinds of lame things. On the positive side they awarded me 1st overall and 1st in my age group for the females... :( to bad I refused to collect.

  • Comments: A lot of lines to wait in. Had to wait to register...wait to get food and drinks at the end, which I didn't get. Instead I waited to get into the transition area as they let one to two people in at a time to get to my drinks and food. There was no real direction for parking.

  • Comments: I think they could've had Gatorade or something else besides water out on the course. It was so hot that people had to rely on what they brought out onto the course with them for electrolytes. I'm glad that I planned ahead and was self-sufficient.

  • Comments: Need more bike rack space. They marked it off for age groups and there was not nearly enough space for 30-34 men (the largest category). Fun racing with more people that I know.
