  • Comments: Plenty of details on my blog: http://tritoachieve.blogspot.com/2014/05/race-report-5182014-tempe-... The race went much better than last year. Mostly because it started on time. I believe that the temperature highs for the day were about the same each year but starting 45 minutes earlier made all the difference. I also have a year of experience under my belt and a really good month of training. This was a PR for me and I am excited to break 2:30 on my next olympic distance event.

  • Comments: bad race direction, will not race another tucson racing event. 1pm awards started at 130 just like the race starting late... excuses all around. Shit transition run for T1 and they let anyone in to transition. at one point there were 2 dogs in transition with owners walking around like they belonged in there... tripped over a woman walking around looking lost in T2 when i ran in my bike

  • Comments: I guess a lot of people have issue with Tucson Racing, but I don't see it. This was 2nd time doing Tempe International and I will continue to do it as long as it's around. The course was as good a course that you can do at Tempe Town Lake and there was a lot of help to keep you on track. Expo is small, but a lot of goodies are passed out and even though the schwag bag didn't include a coffee mug this year it was not terrible...

  • Comments: Tempe International/Tuscon Racing has gotten a bad rap in years past but this race was excellent. Well managed, on time, plenty of volunteers/aid. Course directions were good. There was a triathlon 'walk trhough' for us newbies the day before that was very helpful as well. Oh and my race # was 314. I got to race as pi!!

  • Comments: Just because I didn't perform as well as I'd hoped doesn't mean that I had a bad race. I still PRed my olympic distance time by almost 10 minutes and also had a phenomenal (for me) swim. This was my 4th full olympic distance tri (well, actually 5th but the swim was cancelled on one). My first finish time was- 2:55 My second - 2:51 My third - 2:39 In just over one year, I have chopped 25 minutes of my finish time and I feel that I haven't even come close to tapping my true potential. With IMAZ dead in my sights, I look forwards to whittling away my weaknesses and honing my strengths.

  • Comments: Despite the fact that I had a disappointing result due to mistakes and injury, I still had a really great time! The event was well organized and the weather was awesome. In the end, this event has only reinforced the fact that I am a Tri-Geek for life. I LOVE THIS SPORT!!

  • Comments: At the end of the day, despite missing out on 4th by :02, I believe this was a PR in the swim. I hit the stairs around 22:4x. I improved my bike time by :15 from last year but wasn't nearly as tired getting off into T2 and the run was better by 1:43. And yet, my coach and I can't help thinking I'm not racing hard enough. I feel like I train harder than I race sometimes. It wasn't a question of being too tired to push. I simply let my legs go to a point where I feel like I am running really strong and fast, but it does seem easier than when I am training and it clearly is a bit slower. In regards to being competitive, it's tough when I am racing alone. I'm flying by everyone and have no chance to run the race along with my competition due to my late wave starts. I am going to start trying to be in the elite wave whenever offered so I can for once actually feel like I am in a race against people as opposed to the clock and myself. I should have tried to go with Troy Jacobson when he went

  • Comments: I realized that I LOVE the OLY Distance, but not sure if I will do this race next year. The company that runs this event was quite unorganized (as I heard they always are) and it didn't seem as put together as my race last weekend. But, I had a blast and can't wait till my next one!

  • Comments: I just can't believe an event as large as this can't get the distances right. Only 1 out of 3 was even close to being the correct distance. Especially when everyone has GPS devices now, you would think they would try to get it right.

  • Comments: I went from thinking on the bike "this is the best tri ever - what a cool race", to thinking during the run "what were these m-f'ers thinking starting this race so late in the day for the oly group, this is the worst tri ever!" Overall, I am glad I did the race. My first tri in AZ and it set a benchmark for me to get better from (definitely won't forget it!). Swim was to be expected, bike was great, and the run was disastrous. If I do this next year, I will be waiting until 3 days before and watching the weather forecast.

  • Comments: It would have been nice to have gator aid at all of the stations. The packet pick-up was very confusing and they were out of my shirt size, which is crap for the price you pay for races. The best part of this race was the volunteers they were great and really worked hard to get you fluids. At one point someone had got out a hose to spray down those who wanted it. If the swim distance was truly wrong that is pretty lame. Not sure if I would do this one again. I didn't go to the post race

  • Comments: HOT time of year. First time in a long time that wetsuits weren't legal due to water temperature. Hot on the bike, hot on the run. Mis-measured courses. No medal, cotton t-shirt. Compared to other races, not sure I would do this again, except that it was fun to know so many other racers at the event and to be part of the Club Championships. Have to say that the aid stations and preparation for hot weather on the race staff's part was really good, especially with hose, sponges and ice.

  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: Average race. I'm pretty tired of Tempe races. The schwag for this race was lame. I wish the swim had been the right length because my goal was 2:25 and I think I would have acheived that on a 1500m swim. Still, good to see so many clubs out there competing, and some really good athletes showed up today.
