  • Comments: DA did a much better job with this one as compared to past experiences with them. Nice tech shirt (or you could have chosed a hoodie). Fleece beanie. Chip line was long and as usual, awards took forever. But, they did a better job with this one.

  • Comments: My first race-This race was AWESOME! So great to be athletic again. I loved it and am very happy with my performace. Need to work harder during bike workouts and short run workouts. The practice Bike to Run Bricks were key for finishing strong. Can't wait until the next one! I felt fierce--that was my word of the day.

  • Comments: This is a fun race to end the season. Great Volunteers. Cheap AG metals for 2nd & 3rd place. For as much $$ as they take in, how about something nicer.

  • Comments: The race itself was well organized and a lot of fun. When we arrived there at 6:15am, it was dark and about 45 degrees outside. All you could see after finding a place to park was a line about 2 blocks long of everyone lining up with their bikes to check in and get body marked. In the background was the theme to the Halloween movie playing on the loudspeakers. I felt like a head of cattle after the marked both my arms and one leg with my race number, and my left leg with my age. All the race coordinators were in halloween costumes, including my coach who was in a Girl Scout outfit. There was a Monty Python guy on the run course, and they even had chalk marked outlines of 'dead bodies' out there too! You couldn't help but grin now and then in spite of the pain of stomach cramps and stiff quads! My awesome wife, bless her heart, came to the race with me and documented the entire thing as Team Photographer. It says a lot when your wife gets up at 4:30am on a Sunday morning to support her

Also big props to cousin Lindsay (pilatestri) on joining us. You're tough girl, and you did great!! Stick with it and keep working with coach Jenny :)

  • Comments: I have raced this course 4 times now. 3 for the monster and 1 St Patty. I have improved overall everytime. Monster 06 St. Patty 07 Monster 07 Monster 08 Swim 8:10 6:24 5:32 5:12 T1 2:12 1:57 1:26 :52 Bike 37:17 37:45 37:02 35:52 T2 1:18 1:58 :51 :40 Run 24:20 24:01 22:45 23:17 Total 1:13:15 1:12:11 1:07:35 1:05:51 They definately brought in more people this year and much faster people. Last year I was 17th out of 230 and the year before 80th out of 280. They more than doubled the number of participates this year. I would have been around 10th last year with my time. It is all relative though but still had fun. If all goes as planned this will be my last year doing this race as I want to move my family back north next

  • Comments: I had a great time, the wait to get in a pool seemed a bit long with with that many people and being indoors it wasn't bad. This was my first tri and it definitely got me hooked. I know what I can improve on and will hopefully do this again next year and see if I can't knock a few minutes if not more off my time.

  • Comments: Unfortunately, my perception of this race was that it was very cheaply run. If you want to re-use numbers, re-use them in the same race the following year. The awards were made of styrophome. They looked like something you would get at Party City for $0.79 each. How about something else to go along with the pancakes? Maybe some bacon? That's right, you can get away with making pancakes for about $0.03 each. They could have used several more volunteers also.

  • Comments: I don't feel like I can rate the race, since it was my first. I don't have anything to compare it to. For me personally, it was a fantastic and rewarding experience. I wish I'd started this a long time ago. The race director was fantastic. Funny entertaining, made me feel like a million dollars coming up the last stretch. The pool was a little too warm for me, the weather didn't bother me bit. The Keller PD and volunteers were great. Almost everyone I came in contact with was extremely pleasant and supportive. I plan to do this course again in March, hopefully knock at least 19 minutes off my time. I met Ross (morgenrr) and his wife, but no other BTers. I talked to a few people, but none of them were BTers. Although several said they were definitely going to check it out, so maybe we'll have some new BT teammates.

  • Comments: I train with Tom (RD) and I like him, but come on don't reuse the previous race numbers. I ended up with the Karen Smyers TexasWoman bib. The entry fee for the race wasn't any cheaper, so we should get the appropriate bibs. Otherwise call it the Everything Must Go Triathlon.

  • Comments: DA puts on a pretty good show. All of the volunteers were in costume and they did Halloweenish music the whole time. They do a good job at theme Tris. But...I just wish they weren't so cheap. Using unused race numbers from earlier races for the last race of the year. Sheesh. And I wish they would have stopped playing the music when the awards were going. I almost missed my name.

  • Comments: DA puts on good races but I was actually disappointed with this race. First of all they reused old race numbers so it looks like I did the Disco Tri and my son did Iceman the day before. Plus you really did not know awards was going on since they had the music blaring. They should have coordinated this better. Plus the awards were pretty flimsey but they were the same as last year. Basically they gave away painted styrafoam tombstones. Look pretty cool IMO, but just felt cheap. Alot of people who got them were walking away waving them with the look how light they are. But I will take my first Tri Hardware.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed the race. The fact that it was 9 miles from the house didn't hurt anything. It was so nice to do it with Jason and he kicked major butt on this thing that he trained and ran to help keep me motivated and moving....even though he hates to run. It was good. I'm starting to remmber why I like this sport. Now I just need to find the time and mental toughness to start training for real again!

  • Comments: The race was a halloween theme and they really did a great job with that. They played halloweenie music in transition. The lights at the pool were turned down and there was a fog machine. The volunettrs at the aid station were all dressed in costume. And the RD was a not so attractive Carmen Miranda. Even with the rain, people were having a great time. Several people wore costumes on the run. There were a bunch of ballerinas, a cherleder, Superman and a scary guy just broke out of jail to race. After the race, they had pancakes! Oh yeah, saving this till the end because only a few will read this far...most embarssing race moment, a 10 year old (yes, I said 10) passed me with about 50 yard to go. If he didn't weigh 40 pounds and was 4 foot tall I would have heard him and kicked it up a notch :)
