I have a run scheduled for this afternoon. I'm hoping the wind dies done a little by then so I dont blow away! Just checked the weather... we're getting 27mph winds today with gusts up to 35. That'll be fun for my run. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season Didn't bring my gym bag with me so I won't be running or anything at lunch today. My wife would kill me if she found out I went for a run anyway. She'll let me run if I go to the indoor track but that's it for a little while. She doesn't want me getting sick again, especially since I'm still not fully recovered. This stuff is just lingering on and on and I have to move on with my life so I'm just toughing it out. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season My weight isn't doing very well. I must have been dehydrated the last couple of days because now that my appetite is back and I'm drinking a decent amount my wieght is back where it was before I got sick. That puts me at two pounds a week to reach my end of year goal. I better get busy exercising and start watching what I eat. |

Elite 2640 Ontario, Canada | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season We're on the final stretch everyone! Time to SAY NO to month long binging in the name of Christmas. I needed to reduce my weight loss goal... you all must understand that it was not very motivating to log in this morning and see "you need to lose 2.3lbs per week to meet your goal". It's just not going to happen. I have to lose just over a lb per day now to meet my goal of 169. I really just want to leave the 170's! I will continue next month in a new year's challenge to continue melting away the fat. Edited by mbasta 2010-12-02 8:03 AM |

Expert 671 | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season I need to run 90 miles this month to have run more miles in 2010 than 2009. If I run an average of 3 miles per day I can make it. Also--3 miles per day equals 500 calories extra burned per day for me. This means I have the potential to burn 15000 extra calories and lose 5 lbs. That is just running. I am in for the run every day challenge except I may be walking more than running (back) but it is all the same. |

Be warned Emma---You are in my sights and I am going to get skinny this month! Haha it'll be interesting to see if I can be good over christmas. We always have way too much food and plenty of cookies and candy so it could be quite the challenge. |

But I'm back to eating clean and just need to reduce the calories for the rest of the month. Feeling motivated! Good luck this month everyone!! |

New user 31 Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season back up to 121.4 today - must be the pizza from last night. I'm hovering just above/below 121 which is better than hovering at 122 like I was 2 weeks ago. Positive thoughts...Positive thoughts... Stay strong everyone! |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season Weighed in at 197 today, which is better than what I was expecting. Maybe it was because I finally got to go for a run yesterday. That means I'm down 1.8 with 8 more to go. Things aren't looking good for the end of year goal. I won't give up until the end of the year though. I will watch what I eat and I will exercise. If only I had logged my weight earlier this morning so it would have made it on today's chart. Master 2146 East Side of the Bay | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season I am getting grumpy about this weight thing. I have been pretty consistent on cutting back on snacks and food in general. I am frequently hungry. I have been cleared to start exercising again and have been getting in something everyday. Usually at least an hour of strength or S/B/R. I "gained" 1.5 lbs when I switched scales and it just keeps going up or down the same 1-2 lbs. Never down to stay down. And never down for a net loss. Seems very disillusioning. Sorry, to rant on but you all understand. Rant off. |

Have you tried adding intervals of hard efforts in your training? I hear they can boost metabolism for hours afterwards. |

Try eating frequently though the day, for example cut a little food off of lunch or dinner and have snacks in between each of the three bigger meals. What quality of food are you eating? If you're eating a lot of simple sugars only you will feel hungry - choose items that have protein, fiber, and healthy fat to keep you feeling full longer. |

Master 2042 Albany, NY | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season I'm also frustrated by the lack of weight loss... I'm nervous with the weekend coming up. Even though my eating and exercising habits are by far better on the weekends, my weight still seems to go up between Friday to Monday. |

Expert 671 | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season This challenge has backfired on me as well. I need to get my in gear and instead of having a beer (or 10) this weekend, I am going to be active, active, active. Lose weight over the weekend instead of gain it. Baby steps for me! |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season Well, at least I didn't gain today. Exact same weight as yesterday. I'm also a little concerned about this weekend. We're heading out for the weekend this afternoon, which means a lot of time in the car, we'll be eating out a lot and I don't know if I'll be able to get in any workouts. That usually doesn't result in losing weight. |

Elite 3471 Evergreen, CO | Subject: RE: Challenge: Weight Loss During the Holiday Season mbasta - 2010-12-03 10:02 AM I have come to confess my sins... For lunch I ate a billot log and a bowl full of corn chips. There is a good chance that I will finish my lunch off with something from the same food category... But I did my 50 minute run scheduled for today! What's a billot log? The name doesn't sound appetizing at all. I finally weighed myself this morning and after being too busy last night for dinner I'm back down to the weight I was before my over-indulgent holiday weekend. Of course, I stood up quickly a bit ago and almost fainted, so there's that drawback to skipping meals. I'll have to eat & hydrate well today for tomorrow's race, possibly 2 races even. I am facing the fact (with great sadness) that sugar and alcohol are my saboteurs -- I'm going w/o for December. Feels like my Catholic school days when I always gave up sugar for Lent, or at least tried to. |
