Run
Comments: Thank goodness I ran into Scott, Steve and Scott's friend Dennis moments before the race started, as I stood in the coral. I ended up running the entire race with them. I was planning on running with them and Emily, but she ran late and we never really hooked up. This was Dennis's first marathon, and Steve and Scott had planned to run a bit slower, so this worked perfectly for me. I stayed with them then entire race. It was supposed to rain, but we barely got a hard drizzle at the beginning. For the most part, it ended up being a bit hot and fairly humid. We had a fun time making live videos, joking and talking. Steve had some cramp issues the last 6 miles so we did some waling with him, which was fine by me. There was zero time issue here, so it really didn't matter what our finish time was. Again, the goal was 2 marathons in 2 days. The course was good and hilly. Crowd support is always crazy great on this race. This actually felt easier than yesterday's race. I felt less tired, and stronger, which is weird but great. I ended up drinking a great deal to combat the humidity, so I'm happy about how I handled that obstacle. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Mary, Conor and I walked to the Yard House, drank and ate. Nice recovery meal. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nuttin. Event comments: The Flying Pig is always worth doing, if it falls into my plans for the year. Not sure when or if I'll actually "race" it again, but we'll see. That was #8 pig for me, and I'd rather do races I've never been to instead of pounding out the same old races every year. Last updated: 2016-05-12 12:00 AM
