And be sure to also bung up your elbow so it's nice and obvious so you can take "crap" from your roadie buddies about what part of the bike should be kept upright ;- ) ! When I first got my bike (~ a year ago ), I had never used clipless pedals before. The bike shop manager recommended Looks. We got the bike home, my husband loosened them so that they "just held" and followed my happy, unbalanced butt around the block holding on to the back of the bike (like I had just gotten my training wheels off ) to help me adjust to getting into and out of them without too much hip damage. His effort was so appreciated, although I will say all of the kids on the block thought I was just learning to ride :- ) LOL! I just posted in the "bikes" thread about pedals...thinking of trying something other than Looks.
