I'm sure it depends on the area you live in, but does anyone belong to USA Swimming? What were the joining fees? What are the "usual" club insurance fees?

A swim club is going to let me swim with their high schoolers (sort of like a masters), but I have to join USA Swimming...

Thanks!

The fee to join US Masters Swimming s $40 per year. (That is what I just paid to renew)

I have no clue about USAS and am not sure if they would register you or not. I wonder if the Coach would accept USMS Instead. (This usually works for Swim races where they require one or the other)

I remember the USS fee being around $50 a year, but then that was a very long time ago and it was usually mixed in with dues for my club team..might want to check on going the Masters route...

This is from their website:

How to Join USA Swimming

There are two ways to become a member:

1. Join through a USA Swimming member club in your area.
2. If not attached to a club, join through your Local Swimming Committee (LSC).  Unsure which Local Swimming Committee you are in? Click here for a map to guide you.

Annual fees and additional benefits vary by club and LSC, please contact the club or LSC for a membership application form. Membership application forms are not available on this website.

What does it cost?

An annual membership in USMS is obtained for a modest fee through Local Masters Swimming Committee and includes insurance benefits and USMS SWIMMER magazine. LMSC's have their own minimal membership fees to cover their administrative and organizational expenses.

In addition, clubs or teams can have their own membership fees to pay for pools, coaching, administrative, social and other costs.

Its going to depend on your area...find yourself a group here http://www.usms.org/lmsc/ ... and if they have a website it will be posted

The fees for USA Swimming are $52. The fees for the individual swim programs around the country vary but if they are requiring a USA Swimming membership it is $52.

I swim with the local age group team and pay this fee each year on top of my USMS fees of $40. Unfortunately, they will not accept one or the other unless the coach on deck is certified by both USMS and USA Swimming.

I pay $37/year.  That's on top of the fee for my masters swimming group and my gym membership.  And people say biking is expensive .........

I stand corrected. The USMS fee is $20 and the Local Club fee is whatever they decide. Mine is $20 which makes it $40.

USA Swimming fee is $52. The local club fees are on top of that.

If you are talking about USA swimming as in an age group club program the 2009 fees are $55.00 and will expire in Dec. of 09. The fees to join a team are up to them, but USA registration is mandatory for age group club teams. If it is a masters program you are looking at then you have probably been given the correct info.
