Expert  1452    Troy, MI |  Subject: creepy private messageI have 2 private message issues: I received a creepy private message this morning from someone at a yahoo address, who had been on my profile which doesn't say much, and is seeking a relationship. I think they are a guest on the site. Is there a way of reporting email addresses to a moderator? Also, I keep getting the alert that I have too many expired messages in my inbox and must delete before I can send anything. I have deleted all but 3 but am still getting that message. What else do I need to do? |

What else do I need to do? Sorry about the spam. They created over 100 of these overnight before we were able to ban the account. About 25 were read, we deleted the rest that were still waiting to be read. They aren't a guest on the site. Only registered accounts can leave private messages. If it happens again, send a PM to me or Ron. The spammer is in India. They pay someone pennies to sit at a pc, create accounts and enter spam. It's not even automated, just some poor fool typing away. We have some tools to deal with this and if need be we'll just block large ranges of IP addresses from the parts of the world where they originate. The "expired messages" alert applies not just to incoming messages but your Outbox and Read Messages also. Try clearing your read messages and that should take care of it. |
