Subject: Uh oh, I've got the itch....

So, after 5 years of not competing in a "long" running race, (due to an injury), I did the Rock and Roll Half marathon this past Sunday, and it went pretty well, and the "itch" has arrived...I want to do another one to try to go under 2:00.  My question, have any of you ladies ever competed in any of these races below?  They say you get a silver necklace at the end, and my question is, is it worth flying somewhere for to get a nice finishing necklace, or is it not?

Thanks for the input!

Never done one.

The Austin one looked interesting... but you pretty much have to stay at the resort that is hosting it. Race day you can't drive in and park (no parking)... and if you drop someone off at the gate they have to walk 3 miles to the race start.

The cheapest room rate was $300 per night... so $600 for a weekend. NO THANKS! Too rich for my blood.

I'd opt for skipping the run and the flight and just going out and use the money to buy myself a more spendy  pretty silver neckace!Tongue out..seriously I'd do one if it were convenient and easy to travel too but fly to one just for a silver necklace..hell no!

I wouldn't be doing it JUST for a necklace...I like to go out of town for races, and was planning on doing PF Changs in January, and then I heard about these races.  But, ya, that is a lot of money to throw down...airfare, hotel, race itself, etc.

No help on the zooma runs, but you could drive down and do the IVS half marathon with me ($30, 9/13).  I could probably even convince BAMBAM66 to spring for lunch.

I know a fellow Austinite who did the Zooma here and she really enjoyed it she said, but still the AT&T Austin Half was more fun for her.
