hot hot hot....

is it me, or are the MSRPs a lot lower.

last year, the 9.9 was 8+, 9.8 was not 5,000 as it is now.

Pennstate posted recently about the specialised frame he is looking being about $500 less than last year....

is something lacking in these bikes or did pricing drop or am I missing something?

I think this year prices have probably dropped - oil is half of what it was last year, which was partly what caused the large price increases we saw last year....

Could be materials costs are down. Carbon fiber was in major shortage for a while due to speculation of military needs and also it growing in use over all while facilities could not meet the demands. Steel and aluminum were way up due to the economy being way up and manufacturing through the roof which is now tanked. Factor that with an overall slower economy and need for better pricing to compete and it makes sense that they are reasonable.

It is the economy. Got to be competitive.

I don't know about the TTX series, but I've noticed the MSRP's also came down on the 2 series as well, however they got rid of the carbon seat stays and seem to have downgraded all the components.  I'm glad I grabbed my sexy red 09 2.3 while it still had the good stuff on it. I'm sure sales and the economy have something to do with it.

SRAM also costs less than comparable Shimano.

Armstrong is a small portion owner of SRAM and Astana used their stuff on their Treks.  99.9% sure you can count on Team The Shack to use Trek and SRAM.

Still overpriced crap if you ask my opinion (Trek that is, not SRAM). Money mouth

I'm glad I waited for the 2010 line...and that blue color is awesome, its just a matter of your preference...also thought that 09 lime green color was awesome...prices have dropped and anyday now they should be launching project one for the TTX and than I can have my own color with my preferred components (shimano)...yay! They just really better hurry up with project one for the equinox...taking forever! Hurry up Trek so I can order my bike! please

What really is the difference between shimano and shram components?
