Pre-race routine:

Drove to andover ma. very late in the night before. Found the race site area and decided I was way too tired to drive and look for hotel so I found a nearby apt. building parking lot and set up camp in the back of my car. I had brought a sleeping bag and pad so I was prepared just in case. Got a decent, albeit, short nights sleep but awoke in a VERY wonderful way. Opened my eyes and saw..SNOW!!!! yikes! I knew it was cold but didnt really expect snow. (yeah, I know..May said it was gonna snow....:)) How cool is that!! About a centimeter of snow but very pretty. PLUS...the snow actually provided a bit o' privacy so this vagrant could change inside the car w/o any 'flashing' happening. ;)
Got to race site early. Waited for BTers, roads were crap so figured most would be late. Finally decided to pick up number and find "THE ROCK". Walked around....not too many people around but....NO rock!!WTF!!! Oh well...went and got my number and figured I'd find somebody.
Upon leaving the registration place, I literally bump into Isis54 as she is heading into pick up her number. How cool is that? Pretty cool. I know NO ONE and finally here is a familiar face.
We got her number and looked around and looked around and looked around some more for 'the rock' and 'bt sign' ...nope. Get into crowd at race, walk thru crowd...looking for someone familar. Was gonna hoist isis on my shoulders and let her take a peek for max but figured w/ my luck I'd drop her or...drop something valuable, but unused, of mine.;) so...just seeded ourselves in the 8 min/mile corral.
Event warmup:

event warmup is right!! It was chilly. Not overwhelmingly so, but enough that I overdressed to stay warm for standing but too much for running. :(

Comments:

Great big crowd! Very festive environs. Looked and looked for BT folks. Great time running w/ isis. Chit chatted as much as I could at her blistering pace. I ended up being too hot and felt crappy from overheating. Isis was kickn'in' the pace though and had to keep up. I know I held her back from just taking off and grabbing another podium spot. Sorry jo..:(
The run was great. Would have been great to hook up w/ other BT gang and I should have grabbed phone numbers the night before but...oh well. Had a great time chatting w/ isis. She kept me going.

Post race
Warm down:

So many people in the race...gosh, not sure how many but thousands...a sea of people. Tried to find TAGP and MAX. Finally decided to jst go to the car and get warm clothes on. and ...WALA....there is MAX, ontherun, celeb_ithil, tri-again, tagp all coming down the hill to their cars.
Got a terrific tailgate 'PAHTY" happenin'!! Tunes and heat from my 'home on wheels' station wagon, mimosa, beah, crackers, etc from isis and her 'BT cooler', pastries from DK, and GREAT kinship from BT friends. Good cheer, popped a cork or 2, lots of laughs and hugs, get to know DK and tri-again. Really cool people..ya just gotta meet 'em!!
Well, what more to say. Ah, a great time had by all. Plus I was able to get back to my place in plenty of time to catch up w. my son and hang out w/ him for the day and night.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being overdressed, slick roads.

Event comments:

LOL....yup!!! Got my box of 12 apple pies!!! count 'em 12!! pies. What the hell is a single guy gonna do w. 12 pies??? LMAO!!! maybe I'll sell them on ebay!

Great times.
