Subject: Lets restore our faith in humanity.

So for me this time of year at work is pretty slow so it gives me time read a lot more news and see what is going on in the world.  I do not have to tell anyone that the events of the last few weeks have made reading and watching the news pretty disturbing.  I have read the gun control debates and I have my opinions as does everyone.  I also feel the sentiments of many of you may also be feeling, that our society is a a downward spiral that is leading us to a very poor place.  So lets all help each other out and try to restore our faith in humanity.

Here is the Idea.  Post links, tell stories, post pictures what ever you want to do but lets restore our faith in people. That people are good and caring as a whole.  Post stuff that makes you smile, that are funny, that just show people being good.  I will start with a few I have seen lately. Please give me good things to help my slow days at work pass with a little more Joy.

1.  hey look there are good people in the world

2. A little Christmas Spirit.

Solets make everyone's day go a little better.

Reader's Digest had a ton of inspirational stories in the last issue. Here is a link to them, I'm on the iPad so I hope the link part works.http://www.rd.com/true-stories/inspiring/the-year-in-miracles-inspirational-quotes/

The article I'm posting here:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--former-nfl-qb-jon-kitna-finds-‘gold-mine’-at-a-school-where-other-teachers-only-saw-problems-194739063.html

gave me happy tears.  I always liked this guy's guts in the NFL...I like 'em even better off the field!

No article but as I was going about my morning at the Y today I noticed how truly nice people are in this town.

There is a woman that does water walking/aerobics in the lap lane while the rest of the pool is open for water aerobics. I swim during this time so we end up sharing the lane. We always smile, say hello, and make room for one another then go about our workouts. Well today she purposefully stopped as she exited the pool to tell me Merry Christmas. Seems minor but it was a gesture of kindness and I appreciated it.

Later I was running on the treadmill and hopped off to grab a towel but the towel bin was empty. A gentleman saw me and went to get a towel for me . Very nice.

And still later several of the parents who bring their children to my Toddler Gym class were thoughtful enough to give me a gift or a card for teaching the class. I've taught this class for 4 years now and no one has ever done that for me (and I've never expected it) but it made me feel appreciated.

Sometimes it is the smallest thing that makes an impact.

This man started a 26 acts of kindness chain in honor of those killed in CT last week.  Powerful change of his thoughts in the process too.

It's simultaneously heartbreaking and uplifting.
One of the Sandy Hook victims, Daniel Barden, was laid to rest today. Daniel had dreamed of becoming a firefighter one day, like his two uncles.
As a tribute to that dream, hundreds of firefighters, from all over the area, turned up in town this morning for his funeral, lining the streets in their dress blues or alongside their trucks.
