Regular 56 Warsaw, Poland | Subject: RE: Chris Tree's Group - OPEN Hi Chriss! I would be very happy with joining the group! My name is Marcin. I'm 24 and live in Poland (which is very near to UK). This is my first triathlon season with several running races done (halfmarathon, 25km). In 2 weeks I take part in my first sprint distance race, but 2007 A race is marathon in September. I plan HIM in 2008. Kind regards, Marcin |

Regular 56 Warsaw, Poland | Subject: RE: Chris Tree's Group - OPEN Marathon is the most important for now. In fact even my sprint triathlon is under a question mark as 3 weeks later I am getting married and there are still plenty things to do... As far as biking is concerned I am building my base at the moment. I love group rides with masters bikers but am not able to keep the pace with them for the whole route. Hope to achieve this this season. Swimiing needs tuning as well, but for that I have arranged some classes with masters coach. Eveything is going in the right direction Cheers Marcin Edited by Marcin 2007-05-21 8:59 AM |

Master 1506 Minnesota | Subject: RE: Chris Tree's Group - OPEN Woohoo! Can I join too? Username: norakraemer Name: uhhh.... nora kraemer Story: I was active in sports in high school, but didn't really do much during college, except try to stay somewhat fit. I got bored with working out and didn't do it for a while. I needed something to challenge me, something to work for, and decided to take up running. I was a sprinter in high school, so I knew how to run fast, for a short period of time. A friend of mine, also college professor, asked me to go running with her. I barely made a mile the first time, but soon was able to run 3 miles. I decided that I wanted to try a triathlon and did my first sprint tri last June. I am employed full-time and working on my Master's degree part-time. I don't have a lake in the area to swim in, and limited pool access, so I am lazy with the swim part. I've grown to love running and biking on my road bike! Family Status: 24, single, with one very awnry cat Current Training: modified BT sprint tri plan Last Year's Races: Tri-U-Mah indoor triathlon, Minneman Sprint Triathlon, Whistlestop Half Marathon This Year's Races: Tri-U-Mah indoor triathlon, Crazy Legs Classic 8k run, Minneman Sprint Triathlon, other races TBA |

Master 1506 Minnesota | Subject: RE: Chris Tree's Group - OPEN I'm not sure what our swim is going to be yet, but someone mapped out the bike distance - around 10.6 miles, and the run is around Lake Calhoun, about 5k. We're grilling out afterwards. it's going to be fun! I'm heading up to Minneapolis on Friday to stay with my sister for the weekend. Is anyone else racing this weekend? |

Master 1320 Chilliwack, BC | Subject: RE: Chris Tree's Group - OPEN Not I, I am working. No races until 8 July. I was thinking I should do this user name stuff! Name: Dan Story: I was fat and out of shape. Decided that running was going to take too long and started Triathlon. Dropped from 240 - 160 and then gained weight again and am 195 right now. Fell of the horse hard and decided that I need Motivation as I was letting everything distract me from training. I signed up for a 1/2 Ironman cause it would do just that. Oh, I work as a correctional officer and do 12.75 hour days for 4 and have 5 days off so.. Its like I have a 4 day rest week and a 5 day training week. Family Status: Married 8 years with 2 kids a boy 2 and Girl 5. Current Training: High Intensity Tri Training...basically doing as much as possible as smart as possible in the next 6 weeks..I am tired right now. 2007 Races : 8 July 2007 Desert 1/2 Ironman Weight loss: I would like to loose 10-20 lbs in the next few weeks but that is just a bonus for training consistantly. THERE! |

Master 1506 Minnesota | Subject: RE: Chris Tree's Group - OPEN The mock tri is just for fun, but for me...specifically need to work on the open-water swim and transitions. I finished dead last in the swim last year and had slow transitions (it was my first tri). I could've won my age group if I'd have swam as fast as I do in the pool and cut my transition time down by 5 minutes. I don't have a wetsuit, so it's going to be chilly, but it'll be good for me! Do you guys celebrate Memorial day? We have it on Monday, and it's a National Holiday honoring our war veterans. |

Veteran 1108 Perth, Oz | Subject: RE: Chris Tree's Group - OPEN USERNAME: Splerph STORY: Oh I don't think I've put my story on BT yet, I've been doing tris for 3 seasons now. I have a very good friend who at the very young age of 24 discovered a second breast malignant breast lump and went through a very hard battle with breast cancer. We all helped her through her battle as best as we could. when my friend had recovered (as best as you can recover) she asked me if I would do a womens tri training course with her and do a tri with her. Of course I said yes and we did our very first womens tri together which was very emotional! I caught the bug and haven't looked back. I'm very proud of my dad who at 62 years of age has been doing tri's for the last 20 years. I figure if he can still be doing tri's at 62 (and kicking my butt might I add) then I have no excuse. so since that first race I haven't looked back and am always on the look out for new challenges. in between my ridiculous number of injuries and accidents. FAMILY STATUS: I'm 29 and kinda single, but theres a new boy on the scene CURRENT TRAINING: I finished my 2nd HIM three weeks ago, so I'm enjoying some downtime at the moment, recovering properly from a calf injury and generally relaxing and recovering really. the plan is to just do some maintenance type training till the start of July and then I umm am going to attempt to train for Ironman WA. (well thats the theory anyway) LAST YEAR'S RACES: Well being from down under my tri season has just finished and we are heading into winter. I started my season out with a trip over to Noosa to do an olympic distance race. I had a bit of an interupted tri season her with a broken toe. but I managed to fit in a fair few local races. 2007-2008 Races : over winter I plan to do some cyclosportif events (team cycling races), city to surf run and hopefully the Perth Half Marathon. then Ironman busselton Dec 2nd. (because as my friend said what better way to celebrate your 30th birthday! I sure can think of plenty of other ways to be honest). the ironman is the start of the tri season so will reassess the rest of the season after the IM if/when I make it to the finish line. |

Extreme Veteran 603 Glasgow, UK | Subject: RE: Chris Tree's Group - OPEN Can I join in? USERNAME: Kate_r STORY: Big on swimming and Scuba diving - I just love the water and I started driving at a late age so cycled for most of my life - pretty confident in both of these so thought I'd like to combine the two. I don't run well, so this is the worst part for me. I've also struggled with weight for all my life but found that the greatest success came through focusing on exercise and goals so the idea of a tri gives me something to train for - and something to loose weight for. Currently living in Scotland, although I've lived all round the UK, my other passions include motorbikes, climbing, food and drink and I'm currently doing an MBA - just to add that little challenge to life! Oh and it's my birthday on Friday! FAMILY STATUS: Engaged CURRENT TRAINING: Currently doing the BT Couch to Sprint in order to prepare for my first Tri in September. I need to reschedule this though cause I started it at the end of Jan and it's only a 4 month programme. LAST YEAR'S RACES: None! 2007-2008 Races : 5k Race for Life on 10th June; Novice Triathlon 16th September. Edited by Kate_r 2007-05-29 10:23 AM |

Extreme Veteran 603 Glasgow, UK | Subject: RE: Chris Tree's Group - OPEN Chris - Inspire away, I've recently been through a rough patch - I was going strong till early May I was away with work and missed some training and since then have been so swamped with stuff that training fell by the wayside. I suppose I should also say that I have confidence issues - I talk myself out of a lot of fitness related stuff and lost my nerve with the gym a little but I feel a bit better now so am determined to get back to it. I just need to figure out what to do so .... Question to the group. I started training in Jan but don't have a Tri till September. I _have_ to follow a plan or I just don't get round to doing anything. In the coming months I have three weeks of holidays in one month so ... what should I do about training? Do I take a plan and ignore those weeks i.e. wk1, wk2, miss, miss, miss, wk3, wk 4 Or do I plan round them doing what I can while away (this will be hard to do) i.e. wk1, wk2, miss, miss, wk5, wk 6 Any ideas? |

Regular 56 Warsaw, Poland | Subject: RE: Chris Tree's Group - OPEN Hello First of all thank you for all the inspiring comments on my logbook, it really helps! The news is that I will be able to to take part in Sunday triathlon race. The distance is short (0.6/15/3) but this is my first triathlon so I am getting nervous. The race takes place in Malbork around old castle of Teutonic Knights:
