Champion  5183    Wisconsin |  Subject: USAT Registration:GRRR. I decided to become a USAT member. Great. more $$ spent on this sport, but it has become an impt part of my life, so I was ready to pony up and contribute. I go through all of the online registration, and get this message: "We're sorry! We could not complete your transation at this time.Your credit card ending in xxxx has been processed. Unfortunately we could not update your Member record information due to an error with the data. Please contact USA Triathlon and notify them. Detailed Message: The conversion of the nvarchar value 'xxxxxxxxxxx' overflowed an int column. Maximum integer value exceeded."
OK, so they process my credit card regardless of whether they can register me? How nuts is that?

The column that should hold your credit card number wasn't made large enough to hold the value of the credit card number. Bad bad planning on their part. |

Or, more likely, bad planning on the part of whoever USAT hired to create the app. And as a semi-nerdy point, it's usually a stored procedure that was coded with too-small datatype in these instances rather than a table. |

That's what happens when I look at error messages while trying to do my database homework. Everything looks like table errors. |
