Ugh. I got a problem. I got these Aquasphere goggles that give you this great field of vision and the first swim was great. But, the second and third swims, leak city.

I have a big swim Saturday. I don't know what to do. Go back to the Speedos w/ small field of vision and no leak, or risk the Aquaspheres again.

I tried every which way to get the goggles to work--tightened, loosened, etc. and they seem to leak under the nose. Could it be that my face just isn't right for them? Tonight I was good for about 20 minutes but after I got out of the chop, leaking.

 Advice/opinions welcome. I'm bummed.

Could it be that my face just isn't right for them?

After hearing rave reviews here for the Aquasphere Kaiman goggles, I went out and bought a pair and tried hard to make them work. Could not get them to stop leaking for anything. so I went back to the cheapo speedos. No matter how good a product is, it may not be right for everyone.

And leakproof trumps "great field of vision" every time, in my book.

Which speedo's?  I have the same problem with my Kaiman's, but have had that with quite a few different pairs of goggles.  Maybe I have an odd face...

Exact same for me.  I was really disappointed because they felt great, but no point in that.  I use TYR X-Sight.  They feel good, don't leak for me, and you get a very wide field of vision.

I look like a racoon aftwards though. Laughing

Before you completely give up, check to see that the skirt is still sealed to the goggle around the nose.  I use them all the time and when I get them sealed right, they're the best.  I do have leakage issues once in awhile and I had one pair that was fairly new where the skirt came away from the goggles.  I had to toss those - no way to fix them.  Mine also leak if I don't get all the little hairs out from between teh skirt and my face.  Mostly I have problems around my temples.  Good luck.

Thanks so much you guys. I don't feel like such a freak anymore. Everyone just feels that these goggles are like the next coming and I'm completely frustrated. I'm gonna try and get a quick open water swim in tonight and get readjusted to siting with my tried and true (albeit smaller field of vision) Speedos.

This is an exhibition swim from Alcatraz so it's low key--the next one, next month, is more of a race w/ a run so maybe by then I can find something else.

 Thanks again!!

I had the same problem with my Kaimans and went to speedo socket for training and Zoggs Wiro for racing. Either one cured my leaking problem. The only thing is none of them are cheap. My closet is full of goggles that did not work for me. Lots of frustrations and impacted swim workouts in betwen.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the support and advice last week. I "escaped" Alcatraz successfuly, leak free and fog free thanks to the people here.

My boyfriend, who was loving his Aquaspheres started leaking during the race. That's the last time for him. He was okay with it--had bigger fish to fry--but he'll be moving away from them.

Anyway, thanks again!

Did you leave them in hot weather, such as in your car during a hot day?  They goggles will sometimes loose suction if you do so.

I have the Aquashpere goggles and love them...I have owned over 500 pairs of goggles in my lifetime and these are pretty damn good.

(how in the heck did I own so many...competitive swimmer since i was 4 years old!)

Looks like you already decided on these but I had this type of goggle and if my face was at all wet when I adjusted it they would start leaking.  I put them on before the swim and did NO adjusting and they were ok.  I also had to get the kids as the adult were too large to seal.  I switched back to speedos too.

I've had good luck with the Aqua Sphere Seal XPs, but the new Kaimans I bought leak badly.  I won't wear them in OWS.

A comfortable pair of leaky goggles is no good to anyone but I have had great success with the Kaimans myself.

Women, you might try the new Lady Kaiman (smaller build for women's face shape)
Guys, you might try the smaller Kaiman. Good luck.
