Subject: RE: braking in the rain?1. ) Prepare well in advance before you need it. Think and be observant.
2. ) Wipe your rims off by quickly and ligtly applying, then releasing the brakes.
3. ) Even more than dry roads, rear brake first, then front.
4. ) Be sure not to lock up the rear and fishtail the bike. Modulate it with squeeze-release some presseure-squeeze technique.
5. ) Hope that the course marshalls are doing their very best to control traffic. You don't want surprizes, even on dry days.
Another big tip is to stay off the road paint. Yellow and white lines get really slippery when they're wet. Also, if it has recently started raining or hasn't rained for a couple days, oil will lie on top of the water. Especially true with fresh asphalt.
Just remember, unless you're a cartoon character, it's raining on everyone. |
